just been on another specialist car website and they have a lost car section just wondering if "we" need one or if all the great dolomites from past are all accounted for and hidden away, any chance of stumbling accross an ex race or rally dolomite the mind boggles

I've often wondered exactly how many of the works race/rally Dolomite's actually survived. There was a piece appeared in one of the Triumph World magazines regarding the survival rate of the ex works sidescreen TR's, and I was hoping that a similar piece would appear for the works Dolomite's, as far as I'm aware, sadly not. The overally survival rate of many of the non Dolomite Triumph's seems to be quite good considering. I may be wrong but I believe that the ex works rally Sprint with reg number RDU 983M has survived, well it had at least during the 90s, so I assume it's still around today. There's probably more survivers, but hopefully someone else will add a bit more information.

I thought all the works rally still exist but are reshelled some time. Technical they are by far not original anymore. The Dutch st car is still the original car in the original shell with the original engine. There were no works st race dolomites but the 3 Butch race cars do exist. One is for sale i believe in Belgium.

Not any more there isn't, it is now in my workshop being rebuilt. This car would be a candidate for the most expensive dolomite mentioned in another post. I disagree that there were no works ST race Dolomites. This car started life as a 'Butch' car in 1974, it was rebuilt in 1976 by Don Moore, renowned Dolomite tuner & built many of the 'works' Dolly engines. The car was then sponsored by BL Belgium for 1975/6 7 raced at Spa, Zolder & other Benelux circuits. It was last raced in Europe in 1977 & then put away in the owners car Showroom until 1985 when it was sold to the owner we purchased it from. who raced it once in 1998 at Oulton Park & then it went to the Stavelot Museum in Belgium where it has spent the last 11 years until purchased by my customer. It still has the original shell & the engine box & axle are all as last raced in Belgium in 1977. It also has the original ST Group 1 brakes & suspension.

The car was driven by Julien Vernaeve, Rene Metge, Tony Dron & the late Tony Pond at various times during its career.

I have no idea how to post pictures but this link above will take you to pictures of racing dolomites. if you go to page 3 the car is the Butch car number 47, then the BL car number 64, on page 5 the car is in BL colours again carrying number 25 & finally the car in the Stavelot Museum carrying number 50. This is as bought.

According to "The Works Triumphs" the works rally car IDs are as follows
CVK2K the prototype rally car
FRW812L Group 2 car
RDU983M Group 1 car
SOE8M Group 2 I think
MYX175P Group 1 car

These are just the works entered cars, no details are given of works built but privatly entered cars and there are no details on the IDs ov the Braodspeed racers, I guess because they were never road registered. I'm sure I read somewhere that RDU and SOE survive along with one genuine Broadspeed car

Interstingly one of the Works TR7V8s carried two different IDs during it's career and I believe that both are currently around

Today is already a 'learned something' day I'd never have had an clue they were the same car. Very pleased to hear it has a caring new owner and custodian.

Thank you. It is not the 'spilt' one or the sideways one, they are not in Leyland colours.
