Perl weiss, hmm. Nice but looks a bit cold (bluey-grey tinge perhaps).
Re: 1967 1300FWD Resto
It's a hard one to photograph... It doesn't look blue/grey, it's actually quite creamy. OEW tends to be a bit more yellowy. "Pearl" white sums it up perfectlyKen R wrote:Perl weiss, hmm. Nice but looks a bit cold (bluey-grey tinge perhaps).

Lovely Beetle Howard. Hmm, the colour swatch I saw doesn't do it justice. That was where I got the cold hue from. That does look quite good actually. Might go and buy a sample can and experiment a little.
Cheers

I've got a can in the garage, I'll spray you up a sample if you want. It's really nice paint to spray, too... very forgivingKen R wrote:Lovely Beetle Howard. At the moment, the Beetle is the only car I own that works!!!

Such a long thread and you only bought the car today!!
1959 TR3A, 1970 Triumph 1300, 1974 Toledo
Thanks Photobucket

Re: 1967 1300FWD Resto
Well thats the colour sorted.
Had a look again at the car today, after I tidied the garage a bit.
Needs:
The bonnet positioning readjusting slightly. It sits higher at one side (n/s) slightly and comes a bit too far forward.
Bumper chrome, not the worst I have seen but it has lost it's sparkle. Might have to think about how to tackle that. Maybe go body coloured. Might be nice to be a bit different. Chrome will never shine up again really and is dulled quite badly.
One wheel trim missing, think I might have some somewhere or did I give 'em to Nath. Hmm.
Towbar needs electrics..... new one in the loft
Needs a proper Triumph rear view mirror
Knackered spotlight needs removing from under the bumper. One headlight needs the chrome ring trim..... I have a bag full of 'em if anyone needs one. One reversing light missing from the boot lid.
Needs side mirror on the o/s.
Would benefit from replacement rear light lenses. Current ones cracked.
Interior........... yuck. Carpet looks intact but vile. Might need a piece here and there. Depends how much difference cleaning makes. Might need a sill section. Hello Stoneleigh! Door furry flex faded. Not high up on the list at the moment.
Dash: plastic dash binnacle is cracked. Anyone got one? Also needs a little plastic badge for the stalk on the n/s
Seatbelts look ok. Should they be red? They look light grey.
Boot looks solid. Needs tidying and a board thingy.
I cleaned a sunvisor and the steering wheel centre. Came up fine. Cleaned a section of the front passenger seat..... came up fine. Piping is fading but looks quite good actually. Matador Red rocks!!!
Worst bit is the headlining. There are a couple of tears in it. I will need to try and source a used one if possible (central domelight type).
Upper bodywork is quite sound. Will be taken down to bare metal, prepped and painted.
So, not a huge list of wants:
- O/S wing mirror - wing mounting type
- Dash panel
- Headlining
- Little round plastic badge thing for the steering cowling
- Matching reversing lights
- Replacement rear lenses
- Boot hardboard thingy. Anyone want to trace one on some paper and send me a template?
- Boot mat can be made
- Rear view mirror

The same racy GT6 owning lady in Birmingham can supply you an instrument binnacle in nice nick, just needing a clean.
Rear lenses crop up on the Bay and are also listed new by Fitchetts if you're interested. Fitchetts also have some NOS original boot mats and they aren't silly money.
The boot board is available in all sorts of sizes from a bloke who has a stand at Stoneleigh. Its the pukka stuff and then with a template from someone you can cut your own.
I wouldn't go body colour on the bumpers. If they really won't respond to Autosol and a buffer attachment, they maybe paint them silver....
If you remove any carpet to replace for goodness sake keep the old bits as a template. Because my sill bits fell apart I binned them and then had to "borrow" a set from another car to get new ones made which was a terrible palava.
If you are going to paint it, I suggest you fit a Dolly/Tolly (plain glass) heated rear window - a very worthwhile mod. Remember a relay though (that you can hide under the dash).
The reverse lights are also on Ebay all the time, mostly listed under Allegto and Mini as they were the same as fitted to those cars.
Sounds quite good mate.

Re: 1967 1300FWD Resto
Ken the car sounds a nice car, remember it took me a good few years to get MWK to a state im happy (ish) with!!
With the bumpers try using the auto clay, i used on mine and the the bumpers came up a treat, the rear one 100% better after 30min with the clay followed by autosol....dont give up on them as they will come up, i wouldn't paint them, a guy around by me has a Herald in valencia, he has painted the bumpers and it looks vile
we need photos as i havent even seen the car yet
will you be comming to stoneleigh in her??
If Angie cant help with the dash part, im sure iv got a spare knocking around but i cant remember the condition, iv got some lenses in good condition which you can have for some beer tokens, im sure i can find you a wheel trim aswell!!
Give us a ring to sort it out if you want, even though stoneleigh is a while yet i have parts in 4 different locations!!
Nathan

Re: 1967 1300FWD Resto
Hiya mate,
I will have the lenses and a wheel trim off you mate. Thanks. Just pm me with costs, ok.
I think the bumpers might be ok in a light colour such as white. Dark would look horrible indeed. I will go in LD if she's converted, if not Bindi. The FWD is too vile at present
Have a look in the cars for sale section. There are a couple of pics there.

Re: 1967 1300FWD Resto
The car is, or at least was Old Englih White, there are about 5 OEw's as i found out when I wanted to spray the wing. it is the darker of the range., it would beneift a back to bare metal spray as the paint was very very pitted with rsuty spots and scratches, oh and one other thing that you may want to do to the car is to give it a good clean.
Glad it is now back in good hands, whem Mark said he wanted to sell it last oct/nov I very nearly done a swap with the ex-PBK SE. seem it certainly is destined to stay with you Ken.

Re: 1967 1300FWD Resto
It's amazing that when you consider the youngest of these cars is now approaching 40 years old, and you can still obtain parts like original boot mats, pretty good going when you think about it.mbellinger wrote:Rear lenses crop up on the Bay and are also listed new by Fitchetts if you're interested.
