You really are doing a cracking job. At least where you are has lighting and power. my council lock has neither

I really can't wait to see everything finished. It looked quite mean before but it will look great at the end. I'd have been tempted to take out that number plate recess on the rear end and have it flush with the indicator panels, just to see what it looked like. Something different and a potential chin scratching moment for folk looking at it.

Keep at it!

Cheers Ken. Yeah i know i am happy of the opportunity to do it in a workshop its just hard for me to do it any more quicker than i am. :( . I repaired and resprayed a volks g40 in a non powered single car shed in the past for a mate and that was interesting so i can understand a full resto in similar circumstances would be a challenge alright.

That would be interesting to flush the number plate recess alright, i wanted to do some mods originally but went the safe route by keeping it simple-ish. I'm still unsure about the whole paint scheme /vinyl roof or not etc stuff. Iv'e seen a mk1 ford cortina and a lotus cortina recently that had a coloured stripe along the side which i liked and i was also thinking about how the roof would look if i sprayed it a different colour to the car eg: a non metallic gloss black car with a silver flaked roof maybe, or do the whole car non metallic black with a black flaked roof. I'm into my hod rods and i do a bit of airbrushing and paint effects work but i understand the period of the car and that its british etc so i dont want to go mad on it or do anything distasteful. So i guess i'm a bit unsure about paint yet.

How far are you from me Ken? I'm about 5mins from w10/nw6 london.

cheers

More top work. There's more than enough period correct cars out there already so think you should show your skills and go sympathetically modded if that's what you're keen on. I really like cars with interesting paint, Lotus Cortina with the stripe is great. I also think the red top, biege lower on stuff like Elans is really cool, certainly turn a few heads.

I agree, there are tons of stock cars out there. A subtly modded car is interesting but I also am blown away by some of the very original stuff we have in the club. It's good to have a mix.

At the end of the day, it is your car and you do with it what you want. You have no-one to please but yourself.

Saying that, the car looks damn good in black and it really suits the shape. Shame out Triumphs were never available in metallic. Dark grey/silver would have looked really cool, especially with a black vinyl roof and lightly tinted glass 8)

I'm in N9 (Edmonton). I used to work in the Harrow Road, Acton, Shepherds Bush, Hammersmith areas, but that was a long time ago, so not a million miles away. It'd be good to meet up and have a look at the car.

Have you considered losing the bumpers? Just realised that photo of the rear end after repair looks very good. Would be interesting to de-bumper although possibly not ideal if you park in London I suppose! Maybe try the qtr bumpers like on old Escorts for a different look?

....Then you need bumpers from a post-'73 Volvo P140. Those would keep the buggers away from trying to park in your boot.

Hey everyone. Had a few days away from the car due to me getting some sort of infection,Have a nice cyst under my armpit so no two arm tasks i can do which is mainly everything. :( Which is annoying as I need to push to get this car done. Anyway, again some more pics for now...

Oh, and i'm right next to the harrow rd Ken, and sorry to hear about nellie by the way. Its a small world as they say, normally someone will hear something down the line so hopefully it will turn up.

As for the bumpers, i do like the look with and without them but like you said its difficult in london with parking let alone people driving right up your backside because they think you are in a old banger.

Sorry if i seem to ignore peoples suggestions or questions on this thread by the way, its just that i only ever seem to have time to add a few pics quickly...

There was a deadbolt lock in the door before that i don't have a key for, so i removed it and welded shut the two holes that it used. Also there is a big rust hole in the bottom of the door, i removed all the rust and welded it up too. :)

Spotted this stag looking very dusty and with flat tyres in the same building car park. Not sure who owns it but it seems a shame for it to sit like this. :( Looks in v good nick under the dust...

Hello all, got a few more pics as usual. Had an eventful few days, found more rust that needed welding, picked up a few bits for the dolly-an exhaust system and a kenlowe fan-(still need to buy the temp sensor) amongst a few other small bits and pieces that i've done. Anyway getting there with the sprint, cant wait to have it finished and back on the road. cheers... :)
