What colour are your plugs Paul?

Does this make a difference, you have started to worry me now, all the plugs for the computer, fax, phone etc are black but the plug for the printer/scanner is white. would this be why it won't scan?

Yes, I'm pretty sure the printer/scannner plug should be black also.

New fuel lines now fitted hopefully should make a big difference. Broke my choke pull handle but thats not the end of the world it still works. Oh and I may have shown a Beetle owner the light after they borrowed it for a meet after blowing there engine.

Saturdays welding plans have fallen through this is now getting really desperate. If anyone can help I have no problems driving distance I was going to Norfolk. The problem is im skint as I haven't been paid since I got burgled.

Done about 7 hours of body work today. Result sill caps closed, inner sill replaced in several places, arch area rebuilt and floor plan deholed. Thats a good 2/3 of the work to be done . I will put some before and after photos on tomorrow.

On taking the sill skin off I discovered that the rot was a lot worse than first thought. The sill strenghener was shot, and the inner sill needed to be replaced in several places. Now all done . The main problem seemed to finding some steel thick enough to weld to as it is now so thin, welder was just blowing holes in it. Other side doesn't look as bad but we shall see when i take the skin off. Inner wings will be the last job apart from fabricating a battery tray and then its MOT time

I wish the drive home was as productive. It took the best part of 4 hours as first the A14 was closed so I went on to the A1 which was also shut, found a crosscountry route down some very small roads to discover that the M6 was shut. Speedo cable gave up again (I think im going to have to replace it) but on the bright side the fuel consumption problem seems to have been cured by the new fuel line and closing the holes. £25 ish of fuel used on a return journey from Coventry to Norfolk with a very big detour, about 300 odd miles, does that sound about right?

The MOT is still in date but its only got 3 weeks left to run one more days work and it should pass the next one without a problem.

I will be I intend to bring the Triumph down for a few hours seeing as I dont have a modern and DAFs carb is playing up AGAIN. If the main car park is not a million miles from the stand your welcome to come and have a butchers.

I forgot one other thing. On the way down a plastic bag came flying of a lorry in front and snagged around the windscreen wiper which promptly flew off and cracked the windscreen of the van behind that was about an inch from the back bumper. I stopped and exchanged insurance and stuff. The van driver admited he was too close and it wouldn't have happened if he had been further back. Just wondering where I would stand with insurance if he hadn't said it was his fault in front of 2 witnesses?

If it is the windscreen, then it is probably covered by his insurance excess - typically £50. So not really a "big" issue...

The front of the sill viewing from the wheel arch had no endplate and no bracing of any kind.

this is it now all nicely sealed even if the rot in the floorpan presented a small problem.

That compiles all the work done on Saturday the filler was today. Today I pulled the carpet to discover this, looks good on the passenger side but with some rot in the driver footwell.


test fitted the new carpet (Big thanks too Ken for that I owe you £15 for that why didn't you say something yesterday? I got home and thought why am I £15 better of than I thought I would be) it needs a clean but otherwise looks good.

Passenger side sill thankfully looks a lot more solid than the drivers did. Just a plate across the bottom.


Replace rotoflex bushes and sort out the oil leak that has developed.

Then MOT and general tidying. The drivers side sill will need more work but at the moment will pass

the rear wheel arch now has paint on it

Will it pass with that sill section "floor" (soffitt) missing? It's the very thing that ties the outer, diaphragm and inner sills together and makes it all nice and stiff, or did Triumph forget to close the sill on this side of this car?
