I took the rocker cover off to re paint and fitted new gasket and a dab of gasket silicon around the new aluminium spark plug tube seals to keep the oil out of them,

Ooh, an anti-gravity spray booth, cool.

Better than Gerry Anderson's puppet efforts, but nevertheless the wires can be seen on the spoiler shot.

The black looks amazing on there, is it all to be gloss black, or will a black car still have the satin black finish on its rear end?

This is how i left it yesterday (sat). I put in a new fusebox and all new connectors to it. I also put new connectors everywhere possible, temp sensor wire had a split which i repaired and shrink wrapped it with a new connector also. Cleaned and polished the starter connections and fitted them up. Fitted the engine stabilizer with new polyurethane bushes.

I wasn't trying to fool anyone, my david blaine impressions aren't that great i know.lol

I may satin black the rear but its not needed right now, i still need to compound/polish the paintwork before all the final touches, and that wont happen for awhile, i will let the paint harden fully over the next few weeks as i put up to 4 coats of paint on most of it! The finish you can see in the pics is my straight out of the gun paint, although these pics are not great i know, its off my phone.I've got more coming soon from my camera maybe next week when i get a chance. :)

This is looking superb, well done!

Any ideas as to how you're going top re-finish the alloys (assuming you're retaining them)? Anthracite with a polished lip?

Yeah i do like the alloys so i will be keeping them, i am either going to diamond cut the whole face and lip and then laquer to keep it clean, or i will paint the main face black/or something similar with the lip diamond cut or just polished. I cant do much with them right now unfortunately i have to sort the rest out, still have alot to do. Iv'e still got the original sprint alloys too i guess i could do something with them in time also if i dont sell em.

I'm quite looking forward to hearing the car run when i fit this exhaust on it too... :D

I can get away with light scratches as i've not flatted it back and polished it yet, not that i'm being relaxed with it after all this work. Having 4 coats of paint does help too! First two coats of paint were standard 2k, then at the last two i went 50/50 with paint and 2k laquer so i could achieve the extremely shiny paint that my baby dolly currently has.lol

The flatting back/compounding is very important though so i will take my time with that when the time comes, black does tend to show up all the hazy little scratches so you need to use different grades of polish after each other to remove these...

This car looked decent in black before you got your hands on it, looks very impressive now !

I'm going to go black on my 1850 due to this work you've done.

great job, good levitation :)
