1300 owners, can Dolomite wheel arch liners be fitted to the little FWD?

With a big enough tube of silicone anything (non-structural) can be made to fit

The last part of project Bruce is issued today.

More extensive rot to the sill in hindsight I would have replaced the whole thing with repair panels.


The end of the sill got a plate and some underseal.

The completed forward structure of the front of the sill all nice and solid.

Nicely undersealed ready for the wing to go on


Oh joy more unforseen rot nice plate at the back of the sill sorted that one

Wings back on and a nice skim coat of filler to smooth it all up



Then work started on the engine bay. Strut was removed and the casing pulled back into place. The seams where then welded back down and a plate was applied at the back of the strut. A layer of sealant finished it off

The same was then done on the other side.

After that we tackled some other general holes which where done to put the MOT tester in a good mood.

Other places where some of the wheel arches and the top of the wing and A pillar.

Then on went the paint.
Sill

Then I got creative Bruce got some fetching eyebrows and the black paint was extended around the arch.


All outside washed and waiting for an MOT tomorrow fingers crossed.

Need to get some green paint made up to cover the grey patch and then after a nice polish this car might just start to look the part!

It failed the tester found a stress crack in the rear of the sill that I hadn't spotted. The tester comented that the car was tidy in all other respects .

Paul, from the fail sheet you posted on the Daf forum you really should find a different tester who's actually come across something older than a '98 Corsa before now (or at least knows how to read the manual).

Unless you have no interior or n/s mirror fitted, the fail for a damaged "obligatory o/s mirror" is just plain wrong*. A car of Bruce's age (first used before 1st August 1978) doesn't have any obligatory mirrors apart from either an interior or an o/s exterior or a n/s exterior.




* and I can see both in your photos. Incidentally if, as you say, the mirrors were cracked during the test, the garage is liable for replacement costs.

Paul, go to Hex holdings and see Kirk, if you take your car up then he'l match you some paint up and there not expensive either!!

NOt quite 100% road legal, Paul, cos your mileage didn't go up between the two so you've probably got a faulty speedo. Not an MOT issue but still contravenes the C&U regs

The speedo reads speed perfectly well just not miles. Oh and theres a shiny new cable in a box ready to go in when I stop shaking with excitement that should do the trick.

woo 1000 miles of faultless motoring. New head gasket and rad installed slight hot running as a result sorted.

Now as Im like that I think this car may well be for sale soon. I will replace it when my luck changes at the moment the stress of running too classics is getting to me. You've all seen the amount of work thats gone in so im hoping someone could give a ball park value as too what the car is now worth.

Hi now im looking for some paint to tidy up the 1300, but have hit the problem of not knowing what the colour is called let alone what the paint code is. Can anyone help and tell me what colour my car is?

Thats what I thought but I haven't been able to find it listed as a triumph colour which is somewhat annoying
