Northern Dolly Day 2010

#1 Post by Jowettman »

Next August 14th 2010, CPS-Airedale will once again be hosting a classic rally at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds (on the A65) We will hold Northern Dolly Day once again as a part of this event which raised over £1000 for St Gemma's Hospice in 2009. It's a Saturday do, so your wives / girlfriends etc can take a bus into Leeds for some retail therapy whilst we fellows talk cars! :D The site is only a couple of miles from Leeds city centre.

For an entry form please e mail Steve Waldenberg :

I'll try to make it if Brown's back on the road by then. Hopefully, I'll have a "proper" job instead of the nights that I used to work in the local Sainsbury's.

The Valencia 1300 belongs to Mark Ashbridge. I don't know about the other one though.

Now I remember what it is that I like about shows in West Yorkshire; the local product is often well represented.

Jowett Javelin = WIN!

Is the show on tomorrow as well? It seems unusual to have a one-day event on a Saturday.

Lovely pics Craig.

One of the reasons I really love going to multi-make car shows is the sheer variety. The Javelin, P5, Zodiac, Stiletto, Mk 2 Jag and Magnette are all solid faves of mine. The gold mark 1 Capri is simply beautiful too - truly a body shape that has stood the test of time.

When I see a nice clean Mark 4 Cortina now (a rare event but there were a couple at Bromley back in June), I think what a clean, elegant, unfussy shape they are. I actually much prefer them to the Mark 3 nowadays.

Thanks for a nice leveller - there are lots of other very likeable things out there.
Martin.

Thanks for putting the pix on the forum. I somehow never manage to get pictures to download - well I am nearly a pensioner!! Glad you liked the event, and my Jowett, KTM 111. It was only one there as do clashed with a Jowett Club event over in Bradford. We had about 160 cars in total and raised £1160 for St Gemma's Hospice, so thanks to all who put their hands in their pockets. Won't be able to put on August show next year as we have a trip to Canada and USA planned, but I am arranging a rally for Reg. Numbers Club at Burton Agnes Hall near Bridlington on Sunday 26th June. We could have a Dolly Corner if a few members wish to attend. Contact me in New Year for further details if interested.

Sounds like a reason to put up some nice, big pictures of it on here then. Purely as an educational exercise for those of us who've not met one at close quarters of course..... :D
