Dolomite Road Rally Lighting
Dolomite Road Rally Lighting
Just got a Dolly Sprint which I'm going to use in historic events that seem to be running on a road rally permit. Are there others that have used a Sprint on this type of event and if so what lighting set up to you use / recommend?

Mine,
110W each so when main is on, 660W, daylight.

The good point of all these extra light is that the switch works like a handbrake

You are only allowed a maximum of 4 forward facing beams on UK road events. The best solution I've seen (not tried on a dolly, but it works very well on a BMW E30) is to fit a pair of KC Daylighter lens/reflector units in place of the inner main-beam lamps, they are a straight swap into the 5 3/4" housings.DaveMc wrote:Just got a Dolly Sprint which I'm going to use in historic events that seem to be running on a road rally permit. However, If you are doing historic events you'll need to check the HRCR regulations to see if you're allowed to use modern lighting, as R.19.3. states that "Only period modifications used in rallying on the particular make and model of car are Permitted for Historic Road Rally Cars.", so I suspect you may well be restricted to types of lights available at the time.
Most historic events run in the daytime anyway...

In Holland the regulation is that when you draw a reqtangular around two lamps, and 60% of the reqtangular is lens and reflector these two lamps are as one. So Dolomite Sprint has per side one main beam (two units). So my dolomite with all those extra lamps are two main beams.

Think 1HP is 7 hundred and something watts, so just under 1 HP lost assuming no conversion losses?jeroensprint wrote:Just tought of it. How many hp has my car less with the main beam on?
