VA969 Mike's Early Sprint Restoration.
Re: VA969 Mike's Early Sprint Restoration.
Lovely pipework there, Sir!
I suppose it's possible that a really keen (or anally retentive) concours d'état judge might nitpick over the material used, but stuff them! If that lot don't like the Cupro-Nickel, then enter it for concours d'elegance instead, it's a sufficiently beautiful car, IMHO.

"let's off road...."

Mine's about the same height after I fitted some Spax and "lowering springs" this weekend.
Lower than what? The local Buzzards? Hopefully will settle soon.
Lovely looking car that Mikey, done yourself proud.

I must admit i was supprised at the good condition of my steel pipes when i stripped the car.I could re use it but it is 30odd years old and some i had to cut off so ill replace them.

How much pipe did you use to do the brakes.

Or..........................perhaps they were copper, and I just painted them because I thought they'd look better?MikeyB wrote:I've been investigating Kunifer; I asked Jeroen and John if the steel pipe also had steel fittings. This picture of Jeanette & Danny's VUC 1973 sprint kind of illustrates the steel pipes -
I don't know why I didn't spot it in the first place. So, change of mind; Tomorrow I'm ordering some Kunifer pipe, steel fitings, a flaring tool, a pipe bender & a cutter (all of which wasn't really much more than the Automec copper kit) and if it all comes by the weekend I'm going to replace the lot.

Re: VA969 Mike's Early Sprint Restoration.
Note how the white car's damper and upper swivel mounting bolts are fitted the right way, IE; with the heads higher (at the front of each) than the nuts so they won't fall out if a nut comes off........
Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Are those black plastic mud shields its wearing in the front arches? Wouldn't they have been steel ones at the time?

Look at the car and ask again. I am for sure Mike has the steel ones.xvivalve wrote:Are those black plastic mud shields its wearing in the front arches? Wouldn't they have been steel ones at the time?

Stunning car Mike.
The first time it moves again under its own power will be a watershed moment for you I suspect.
