Weber throttle return springs

#1 Post by 80Sprint »

My Sprint runs ( or has not for many years ) on twin 45's. When i got it running on the drive i notice a reluctance to return to a level idle speed. The carbs need setting up but i thought there should be 2 return springs. I found 2 i believe came off the car but can't see where they should go. It has twin throttle cables and i can't see a make now they are fitted to the car. Are they all the same design and can anyone give me an idea on where return springs are normally located ?
I could take some pictures if it helps.

I have put this in the dolomite section to hopefully get a wider audience on a reply.

Oh lordy lordy, the carb return springs are inside the carbs .
The springs in or on the linkage are mainly to return this linkage to the idle position.
In some setups they also pull the throttle cables including the pedal back, but that is not ideal.
The Dolomite pedal should have his own return spring.

You learn something every day.

If i rev the engine it still does not settle back to the stop on most occasions.I have disconnected the linkage to the throttle cables cam and the carbs return to the stop ok when i do this. The throtttle pedal also returns ok when it's disconnected. I have sprayed some WD40 round the ends of the spindles.

Any tips on setting this up or anything else i should be checking ?
