But it's one thing breaking a car that already has a certificate of destruction, or one that's otherwise unable to be returned to the road. Finding yourself with three dead cars, all of which worked fine when bought, well that's a bit different surely?

It could be pure bad luck, but to refer to another thread for a moment; dismantling a working engine and replacing it in spite of advice from several forum members that would have effected a cure for that engine's troubles wasn't the best way to proceed now, was it?
The o/p needs to start accepting well intentioned advice rather than condemning healthy parts, he'd find that doing so would make the rest of us far more likely to care and he'd probably have two from three of his cars working at any one time.

That right there was constructive criticism, not intended to offend, OK.
Fair points well made.

My 2p's worth,
I also need a reliable daily car so I have a reliable daily car to use not one that has been bought as a project
I have stripped and scrapped a LOT of cars but none of which were fit to be put back on the road be it either sever engine woes (holed blocks, seized etc) or body issues or ones that no one else would buy I have also saved just as many cars from being scrapped and addmittly some that I have saved have ended up in parts, all cars that I have stripped/ scrapped have always been stripped complettly sometimes leaving only part of the body tub being weighed in and I have have never sold a car to banger racers* despite many good offers, actually I have bought cars from banger racers so as to save them!
The problem here imo with the o/p is that he bought a PROJECT car when he needs a reliable daily driver then buys another car that needs works doing to it when it would in my mind make more sense to buy a up and running known good car to use as a daily and then buy a project car!

(* that was actually a lie as the guy who collects my scrapped cars and the more modern ones that I have scrapped is a banger racer but he has often called me about cars that need saving.)

Why not just put on a new front wing and use the brown one?! Alun's fibreglass ones are an excellent fit.
