Again a Dutch build Sprint engine.

#1 Post by Hans ten Broeke »

Made the head of this standard Sprint engine, including cam line honing for a felow forum member.
All the parts are standard and new including original Mahle standard sise pistons, and Elring head gasket.

After breaking in on the test rig, the first runs (temporary just a set standard carbs, ignition and air filter box) a good 132 DIN Hp and 175Nm at the wheels.

Video kan bee seen here.

Yes your right, even after 23 years of owning this business http://www.bccp.nl most of the time it is one big hobby.
The testing centre, http://www.dynojet.nl is a supporting part of BCCP to test the results of our work (carburetor restoration) and also a big help by fault finding.
Find below a few interesting cars of the last couple of weeks.
Especially in the classic section this Alfa C6 by Pinaferina 1949 is one of the so many great cars we see, a beauty, look at the 2 Mile Miglia stickers at the front screen.

Big toys to play with are the muscle cars, most brand new lately, (the low dollar??) we test them before and after tuning, mostly a roots compressor setup.
I was a bit surprised by that Dodge Challenger (just 1000 miles done), it had a Russian license, the car came from St Petersburg.
You can see before and after tuning, almost 500Hp at the wheels and over 650Nm
If you look close you can see that our Dynojet Dyno has absolutely no problems with this kind of power, actually it looks very relaxed, we can official measure till 1200Din but at the factory they even have done over 2000 on this dyno.

Last month 4 of these cars together good for some 2000Hp.
As I mentioned already, work can be a big hobby, and the Sprint is a part of it.

Hans.

3 videos can bee seen here, as you can see the Chevy showed by the intake runs alredy by far a to rish micture what had to be changed.
The Challenger before and after the upgrade, still no stres at all.

Hi Hans,

Greetings from the other side of the world. I really enjoy your posts on here and your links to other pictures and info.
I am presently bolting together a sprint engine that will run a STR91 cam and Webers for a bit of club type racing.

Some of your pictures mention ARP Fasteners, can you tell me which part nos you use. I have identified from ARP's catalouge parts for the bottom end and con rods. Which do you use for the head studs please.

Also for the engine you showed that you built with similar specs to where I am heading did you reinforce the block in any way? Block girdle? What valves and springs was it running too please?

So many questions, but best to learn from someone else rather than the hard way when funds are limited!

Many thanks,
Ben

Hi Hans - you replied to one in the Dolomite related forum, is this the one you're referring to?

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18578&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15

Glad you had a good time in the UK - even without the Dolly!

Cheers,
Ben
