HolgerS posted this into another thread, but this just makes it a little easier to link to.
This year the Oldtimer Grand Prix (http://www.avd.de/ogpracing/index.shtml sorry mainly in German) happens already the 36th time. This racing weekend includes all kind of classic racing classes from the old 20/30's vintage racers via the incredible 16 liters CanAm and 70's GT classes up to the 70's Formula 1 races. One of the German Triumph TR clubs rents every year an area direct opposite of the paddock with space for round about 120 Triumph's. They bring a big truck full of refrigerators which are filled with beer, wine, soft drinks, steaks, sausages and so on and give this away for their own buying price to Triumph enthusiasts. Also breakfast, BBQ and all the other stuff is provided and you can camp on the ground. From this area it is only 2min walking distance to the paddock and race track. On all the spaces around there are club meetings from whatever you can think of. So if you want to see 200 Ferraris of all kinds on one spot you will be satisfied on that weekend as well if you want to see what the Rover club is doing or whatever you can think of relating classic and sport cars. Also you won't be able to empty all the beer or wine we will have there (but you can try....). If you do not like to sleep in a tent you can also book a B&B and use the area for parking and catering during the day.
The normal entrance ticket for the whole weekend including all races and the paddock entry cost normally 67 Euros plus the parking fees but you will get a Triumph Club parking ticket via myself for approx. 12-15 Euros (last year it was 12,75 but I haven't got the prices from the Nuerburgring company so far) and this parking ticket will enable you to by the whole weekend ticket for a fraction of the regular price (last year it was 35 Euros instead of the 65 Euro normal price). I have managed to get our own section from the Triumph Dolomite Club in this area and reserved ten tickets for us. So please if you are interested to enjoy this weekend at the Ring, please contact me so I can sort the overall need for tickets out and might have a chance to give back or get more tickets from the TR friends.
Just want to bring up this thread again after I was not really active in the last couple of months in the forum and the magazine. Reason for that was that I got an infarct during a business trip in Cairo the week before Christmas which changed my personal agenda immediatly as you can imagine. But now I'm fully recovered. But back to the topic....
Now it's time to sort out the tickets. So please make up your mind if you want to join this meeting. I got already committed attendees from the UK travelling with TR's and MG's but no Dolomite so far from there. I've still not the final pricing but expect it until next week. Beside myself there will be attending also some of the rare Dolomites located in Germany. Please make sure you contact me asap in the case you want to attend. I'm looking forward to see some of your Dolomite, Toledos and/or 1300's there and have a beer with you.
I finally got the final quotes from the Nuerburgring company. The weekend club ticket will be 14,28 Euros per car which includes parking at the Triumph club space at lot A2 (very central in opposite of the old paddocks) and the option to buy full weekend tickets for entry to all stages and the paddocks for 38,00 Euros instead of 75,00 Euros per person. The tickets will be printed this week. So hopefully in approx. 10-12 days I will have them here.
5 of the 10 TDC tickets are already gone. First come first serve. So hurry up in case you want to save one for you. As mentioned in the first thread you can also build up your tent there and enjoy the Triumph enthusiast catering including all kinds drinks.... Looking forward to meet some of you during that weekend.
Do you still have Triumph Club parking tickets available? If you have any left, I would like one please (it is one ticket per car right?). My TahitiSprint will not be ready by then, so I’ll take my java green TR7 instead
Is it possible to buy only a Sunday entrance ticket? As I have a friends wedding on Friday, I will be only arriving Saturday afternoon…
Was a great weekend. Hope that Ronald and Russell & his friends got back save. Hope to see more Dolomites next year. So mark your calendar for the 2nd weekend of August 2009.......
Just got the question from the Nurburgring company if I need club tickets for this year for the Oldtimer Grand Prix (see http://www.avd.de/ogpracing/english/index.html). As I had to pay the tickets upfront and nearly nobody from the TDC showed up I want to know if there is any interest at all. Please send me a PN if you have any interest to enjoy this outstanding event on August 7th to 9th this year. I will be definitly there and hope to meet some of you for a beer and see more than my own Dolomite Thanks
Last chance to get club tickets. I got the final prices for the TDC club tickets this year. It will be 14.28 Euros per car for the whole weekend. This includes the secure car parking direct opposite of the old paddock and very close to the main entry as well as a club voucher for each person in the car. With this voucher you get the weekend ticket including access to all races and grandstands and paddocks for 38.00 instead of 75.00 Euros. Beside that you can camp at the Triumph parking site and there is full catering from the Triumph TR club at the side for very cheap prices.
Please get back to me via email if you are interested in visiting this great event at the Nurburgring during August 7th to 9th as I need to organize the tickets very soon. Looking forward to see some Dolomites there
Just in case someone will be at the OGP at the Nürburgring this weekend please feel free to drop in for a beer. I will be with my yellow Sprint within the Triumph TR club area B2A and could be reached on my mobile number which is shown on the good neighborhood scheme list.
