Understanding Engineers #6
The graduate with a science degree asks, "Why does it work?"
The graduate with an engineering degree asks, "How does it work?"
The graduate with accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost?"
The graduate with an arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that?"

[on topic]Pop by the RRVC showground at Druridge, it's only sort of semi-p*ssing down there at the moment, tomorrow there'll be three Dolomite-shaped vehicles on the field.
Failing that, bugger off back down south and quit whining!

[on topic (sorry Joe)]East side of the County, about 8 miles North of Morpeth, the club organising is the RRVC (Red Row Vintage Club) and this event is now in its 9th year at this venue. Always well-attended, wet or dry, it's a good day out and is right on the coast, separated from the beach by some landscape work and a National Trust (or is it RSPB? Can't remember.
) visitor centre and ice cream selling facility.[/on topic (sorry Joe)]
Here's my official apology to Mister S. Monkey for taking his world famous "off-topic" thread so dangerously close to on-topicness.
Sorry Joe.

RIVER WALK
There's this blonde out for a walk. She comes to a river and sees another blonde on the opposite bank 'Yoo-hoo!' she shouts, 'How can I get to the other side?'
The second blonde looks up the river then down the river and shouts back, 'You ARE on the other side.'

That is such a cool picture, where was it taken? As well a the Concorde I also spy a DC3 there, the aircraft that started mass airline transportation and is still going strong today.
All the airline pilots I know love Boeings, they all describe them as real pilot aeroplanes while none has a good word to say about anything by Airbus.
As the old saying goes "If the plane doesn't say Boeing, I'm not going"

I have a friend who is an air steward for BA who says pretty much the same thing.. although he does have a sweet spot for the Airbus A320. Favourite is (of course) the old 747

Photo was taken back in 2007 at the Seattle Museum of Flight, I think it was something to do with the launch celebrations for the 787..
Many, many years ago I watched a DC-3 take off (either from either Duxford or Farnborough air show), the image, sound and smell of which is ingrained in my memory for ever

I think this may deserve its own thread

What a day. The useless modern car decided to overheat. Where the severn bridge toll plaza 8 lanes from the hard shoulder.
Problem the aircon computer went wrong and switched off the ruddy cooling fans. Fuse box is a melted mess but thankfully the the head is OK.
