Newbie bought 1500TC...finally

#1 Post by sanderjurkiewicz »

Hi All,

Following my previous posts, I'm pleased to say we've finally found a car!

We've bought a 1974 1500TC red and will be joining the club today.

Thanks to all for your advice we may well need more in the near future!

Having a look at the tuning of the car today as I feel it runs on too many revs when idling....

Was tuned by Heritage Motors Thorney a couple of months ago, but doesn't feel right to me.

Especially when driving off in 1st gear it feels like I'm drowning the engine when releasing the clutch!

Hope I won't regret buying that lovely 1850 in Northumberland!!!

Thanks all

Sander

 Yay! About time too! Well done on your purchase, here's also hoping that you don't regret not buying that slightly "play-worn" brown one. 8)

Hi,

Thank you!

No, not much left to do really other then checking the boot lock as it doesn't seem to lock.

Since buying the TC, I've put in new front seat belts, new weatherstrips and new flasher unit and replaced a door nob.

It had a documented rebuild the last 5 years so everything else shouldn't need any attention.

It's not concourse, with the finish inside and out, but certainly very close to a condition 1....

After my long search, my wife is now not liking the classic driving again though after 8 years of driving a modern car, so it's now my daily driver!

I preferred the 1850's so might save up for one of those in the near future if my wife will let me buy one or if I can find a good home for my current TC!

Many thanks

Sander

But if Sander sells the 1500 to you, what's he going to do for transport?

That's the plan John :D :D :D :D

I'm trying to work out what it would cost to finish that lovely 1850.....

Think the 1500 TC is easily worth 1400, but would be looking to get back out of it what my costs have been on it (seals, seatbelts, flasher unit)

So would be looking to get at least 1100 ish

Will see what what I can find in the next few days, really want to book a single trip up to Northumberland, but want to make sure I can finish the car like it deserves!

As an update, I have decided to let the 1500TC go in order to raise funds for an 1850, as I'm now driving the car daily, I just prefer the 1850....

I'll be putting all the details on the for sale section early next week....
