york Historic Vehicle Rally Pic Heavy!!!

#1 Post by boybiffa »

Hi guys

I today went to the York Racecourse historic vehicle rally and even though it wasn't scorching hot. It was still a good turnout with lots of cars including 4-5 stags,1 1300FWD (very tidy) a further 4-5 spitfires and more triumphs! with military vehicles,HGV camper vans, motor homes, buses and many other classic vehicles!!

Love the little green vauxhall viva HA :) (still have a little soft spot for viva's)

Enjoy! :)

p.s

Sorry if there's one or two double photo's.

350+ photo's! could have taken more but after using up 12 batteries in the camera and 2 hours of walking I was tired out too

Had a nice long chat with the driver of the 1300 FWD who kindly let me sit in. Very nice and very tidy condition too!

A good despite the strong cold-ish breeze and odd spot of rain.

:eyes4u: :eyes4u: :eyes4u: @ that gorgeous 120Y Coupé. I had the saloon version in 1985, it was only a 7 year old car at the time but already had rotten wing rails and boot floor. Same shade of yellow too.

Some really nice cars their on sunday.
The acclaim was VERY tidy indeed not a mark on the bodywork.
I was talking to the person who was driving the 1300fwd and had a good chat, very nice little cars (first time I'd ever seen one in the flesh)
After being in the dolly and sitting the 1300fwd the gearstick seemed really strange coming forward at you rather than coming up from the floor
Was such a beautiful little car.

There was a mercedes benz club stand but with the camera eating the batteries I couldn't take anymore photo's. If i had taken photo's of the mercedes benz stand I would have had over 400 photo's! :D

Seeing so many spitfire's. At some point in the not too distant future I would like to buy one that requires a little bit of restoration work and keep that for the summer. (see how things go)

The gold vauxhall viva was very similar to the one I nearly bought, before I bought the dolly,So was quite nice to see a good viva HC

Glad you enjoyed the photo's.

Rob :)

Sunbeam Stiletto is lovely, as is the Humber Scepter but if I got hold of it I would have to take all the extra add-on tat off it! :)

Cortina mk3 GXL is gorgeous too.. 8)

Eventually I'd like a spitfire 1300 mk4 restoration project.

Was really good to see such a variation of vehicles.

Glad everyone's liking the photo's :)

Isn't that Mark Ashbridge's 1300fwd as featured in Practical Classics many moons ago? The Acclaim looks very tidy. Even the front valence is rust free! It must be a thing with beige cars. My beige Acclaim had a rust free front valence.
