Davies Craig EWP - location
I am just putting things back together after removing my old water pump last weekend and am looking for the best place to plumb in the EWP. At first I thought of just behind the rad in front of the subframe but there wasn't room. Next I thought of behind the alternator, this looks OK but would work best if the pump had two straight tails rather than the straight and elbow supplied. That way it could replace the elbow in the bottom hose.

I don't think mine can go as far back as that as there is pipework in the way, I'll see if I can get hold of another straight tail.
I see you left the bolt in the bung, I was wondering about taking it out but as it was set to exactly the right height just to clear the housing guessed it is there to stop the bung moving so left it in. I didn't have the custom transfer tube so I knocked a core plug into a normal one and drilled a small hole, fingers crossed for no leaks.
I have a second small pump for the heater. Which line to the heater is best to fit this in and will I still need the h piece?

1. is there a reason why EWP couldnt have gone at right angles so that outlet pointed upwards and inlet faced rad hose? ie not require a right angle elbow fitting
2. anyone know if there was an answer to the question "I have a second small pump for the heater. Which line to the heater is best to fit this in and will I still need the h piece?" Specifically the first part of the question; also what make of small pump?

Yes.....
As I have already told you,
the pump housing has a drain hole for letting condensation escape, so this needs to be a the bottom.

You did indicate condensation. Not sure you mentioned an actual drain hole though?

I used the EWP115 on my race car. Photo shows the setup off the car, hose straight from bottom of rad and outlet straight to old pump housing inlet. Worked fine and no additional support was needed.

Folks have a lot of polarised views on this I've found. One is that you don't need an extra pump for heater cct, you just take the return from that cct and plumb it into the bottom rad hose before the pump. So is that what that is?
Where would I get an adapter thingy like that? I'd much prefer that solution over an additional mini pump.

No, I never found a need for additional support. Having the outlet hose short and the EWP mounted very close to the inlet cover helped keep it firm and unable to wobble around. It was fit and forget, although I would make sure the engine mounts and hoses you use aren't old and floppy.
The take off (1/2" hose) from the rad hose fed into an alternative header tank I designed and fitted where the windscreen washer bottle usually sits. This concept of feeding from that hose was widely discussed on the forum some years ago. I tried it and found it solved many of the issues I had, but that was for a race car which produced excessive heat that needed dissipating. I still have standard cooling sets ups in my road Sprints, which with an electric rad fan with a manual override in addition to the thermostatic function has always proved adequate.
The heater certainly worked when needed without any additional pump. Whether this was because I had the higher capacity 115 pump I don't know. The heater pipe feed/return was untouched from standard. That junction piece in the lower hose was bought (Supercheap!) with a threaded hole for a temp sender, I drilled it out and superglued in a piece of aluminium pipe the size I wanted!
Photos for interest (EWP outlet mounted very close to old pump inlet; header tank in situ; inlet from bottom hose at base, two inlets at top are bleeds from both radiator and existing from thermostat cover - advantage was an increased total coolant capacity plus about 600ml for expansion all within the pressurised system):
