Sprint Ignition Parts

#1 Post by dursley92 »

Just been looking to find a new distributor cap and rotor arm for my Sprint engine and they seem to be hard to find and very expensive.
I have the Lucas 44D distributor and prices seem to be about £18 for a rotor arm and £20 for the cap.

Are these prices correct and does anyone have a better/cheaper source please?

That seems to be about right - here's the club spares price list.

I am a TR Register type and not a Dolomite Club member so am I allowed to buy bits from the club?

It would be good to buy stuff from people who know the cars well but I have the Sprint engine in a TR7 so thought it might be a bit like heresy.

An alternative to the original Sprint rotor arm and distributor cap,
you can use Austin Ambassador items, but doing so requires push-in ignition leads as well.
Whatever you do, please DON'T use Intermotor brand components.

We don't have any 44D caps or rotor arms in stock at the moment.

Heresey maybe, but at least you improved a TR7 :P

Anyone is welcome Russ, there's a few with peculiar tastes like yourself around, and sadly, there are a few spare Sprint engines around without cars to wrap around them these days! MikeyB called in to see me yesterday and in conversaion I counted up about 15 in my collection!!

Oh, and its not us being petty about only selling to members, there are legal reasons why, not that I can ever remember why a Club is different to an individual; tax I think...
