Must be spring, the first mating call of the lawnmowers coughed into life, down here its mainly the bright orange plummage of the Flymo. Soon to be followed by the annoying call of the pressure waher, B&Q are about to make a vast profit.

I have to confess that on Monday I did a blindingly stupid thing. I locked my keys in my car :oops: If that wasn't embarrassing enough when the AA man turned up it took him all of 10 seconds to unlock it with the key to his Honda motorbike.

What an utter, utter, utter, UTTER pillock.

[on-topic apology coming]I have a similar, but probably slower (66MHz flat out) machine of the 486 variety, runs Slacko Puppy a treat but jeez, haven't we moved on during these past 20-odd years?
I sometimes play with 3.1, but only in a virtual box where it shows itself to be much more capable than was ever thought possible back in its heyday. And now where's Micro$oft? Windoze 8 is still rubbish on a machine with 8GB of RAM and a multi core cpu at around 4GHz. More electricity required to feed the thing, no time to make a brew while it boots, no wonder 20 million people every week ditch Windows entirely in favour of a safe, quick o/s.[/on-topicness apologised for please]

Times I wished I'd had my phone or some other form of photograph-taking device on me, number 317b/2.1:
I've just watched Simon, my crow, playing tug-o'-war with the Button cat using the rear half of a dead mouse as the rope. This demonstration of inter-species food-related debate has shown me that to win an argument with a cat, you have to be able to pick up the subject of the feud and fly away with it.
Now, if only I could un-teach that pesky bird how to imitate the ringtone of my next-door neighbour's phone, a good man would be spared an awful lot of pointless stress. :D

It's when you go looking for part advice for a completely unloved vehicle that you realize just how great forums like this are.
But hey, at least now other Sportage owners now know that the pump from a 2001 car won't fit a 98 one. :roll:

Found this tin of Wimpey Frusten Green paint in the depths of the garage;

...which makes it precisely 2 years and 2 days older than me. :oops:

Two sides of customer service:

Had an eye test today at the local posh optometrist - my first one in about 20 years. 45 minutes of his very professional time for £22, at the end of which he gave me the prescription if I wanted to buy but told me not to bother. To me, that's good service and great value.

Got home to my insurance renewal on our Daffodil. Up from £124 last year to £258 this year :shock: :shock: :shock: Obviously phoned them up to say "oi!" and was told that was the best showing on their panel but they could do me a £20 discount. I declined. Got a call off them about 20 minutes later (different person) asking if he could just run through my details. New quote? £106 from an insurer that the first person had told me they didn't deal with any more. Ok, they took the trouble to phone back and all that but why not give an honest quote in the first place. Makes you feel that "valued customer" really means "valued cash-cow" :evil:
