I have to say that this is a very disappointing response to John's request. In the past I have attended a couple of the southern area get-togethers myself and they have been great fun, and very well attended.
I would have hoped for a bit more enthusiasm, especially given the emphasis the Committee have put on trying to re-invigorate the Regional structure this year. I spoke to John on the telephone last week and, at that point in time, no one had made contact at all apart from Jon above.
So come on southern folk, let's try and get a gathering sorted, especially while we are enjoying this wonderful weather!

Re: Proposed Southern Hampshire Dolly Meet
Just sent a PM to John which basically asks this:
I did propose a meeting venue as the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu when this subject came up previously.
Personally I have very fond memories of attending a SODIT here back in the mid 1990s. It is a wonderful venue - something for all the family.
Previously I was told that it was not suitable as it is a "pay for venue", but we know that as a visitor you do expect to have to pay for entrance to the grounds (just about everything else is free once you are on site). I was told that the club would not be able to fund such an exercise. But i would imagine owners would be okay about paying for an attraction where the whole family could attend rather than just some field in the middle of somewhere for free with nothing much to do?
I now have to ask has anyone actually contacted Beaulieu to get an idea on rates? It always seems such a popular venue for other car clubs (who get their own display arena), so could this be looked into again please?

John
Glad to see you have at last had some replies to this post, began to feel that it was only thee & me who were interested in regular meets!
If you are thinking about organising a Southern Dolly Day then I believe that last years one that was cancelled was arranged at Sammy Millers Museum at Christchurch so that might be a good starting place, also might be worth considering having a TDC club stand at the Netley Marsh Steam & Craft Show w/e 20-21 July as this is easy to get to from most parts of the South, has a lot going on, so should be a good day out for all.
If you get interest in this suggestion let me know as I would be happy to help with the organisation.

Excellent well done John. I will be there as long as I can get a reasonable ferry price deal. Great venue.
