Had a mooch about on Drive it Day

Saw loads of British bikes in convoy (lovely sound).

A D Type Jaguar (seen before).

This Renault 10 (later a nice big wave from it's owner :D).

Image

A couple of Austin 7s (both waved at me).

A Mazda RX7 (did not return my wave)

Really a little disappointing this year, though there was a lot of threatening black clouds which didn't do much until much later in the day. I wonder if this put people off?

Later I saw this Hillman Minx:

And this slightly out of focus Capri;

Funnily enough there's one of those Renaults for sale now, on Ebay, situated in Pompey. It's the same colour, but from slightly earlier. You certainly don't see many of them now! :)

I saw a Porsche 911, Ford Capri and a Morgan (but that doesn't count does it)
along with two Magpies (very rare here), several Ptarmigan and also heard some Golden Plovers.
There was some large patches of Scurvy Grass in flower on roadside verges and the beautiful yellow Whins adorning hillsides
and braes. I seem to wandered a bit off topic  ..........

Yesterday's Drive it Day was well represented around Surrey. It started of with 2 Morris Minor Travellers, an E-Type and then one of the early split-screen Minors in Taupe ( light brown.) Then just off the A24 there was a brown Scimitar, a lovely white Rover P6 3.5 ) I loved the exhaust note) and guess what . 2 Austin 7's . Both in cherry red. Were these the same ones dollywhitey saw near the South Coast I wonder ? Then a green TR2 ( wave-wave, thumbs up ), and on the way back a nice Citron 'BGT.
And naturally dozens of bikers at the bottom of box Hill.
And this morning I was passed by an excellent damson Jensen 541 I think the model was.Wave-wave again.
So all-in-all an excellent informal event. There should be more of them.
Tony.

Post in two parts - part one.

A yard full of MGBs, Midgets and a Spitfire, near Myddle; and a Herald 13/60, at Sleap (pronounced "Slape") Airfield; both in Shropshire.

Definitely, especially since many of them have lost their engines as replacements for Reliants.

Spotted this Mini looking rather sorry for itself parked in East London on the way to work. At first I thought it was a tax-exempt ringer, but the DVLA shows it as a 2000! So it's had an earlier plate transferred on at some point :)

Oi - that's my station car. I bought it off Jeanette and Danny a couple of years ago, thought about Sprinting it (still may do) but I'm using it at the mo. Lovely little car, much better than my Sprint (POE) which I'm getting ready for it's first track day (the shell I gave Mart was actually better than POE's - so POE is getting the track day treatment - really should update my thread).

I did put the Toledo up for sale (not very enthusiastically I must add) as I needed a station car, then thought - sod it use the Toledo, and I'm really enjoy driving it - getting loads of comments everywhere I go.

It's really encouraging to see someone actually using a car of the quality of that Toledo. Good on you, better this than see it end up a trailer quean.

And aren't those Datsun Note things massive. :x
