Apparently, according to the driver of a very nice Elan Sprint that I and the team beat into second place in the Scottish Autotrader Series in 1995 (with a Reliant Kitten, as you do...), there are probably now more replicas than originals and so many Elans that look like Sprints are in fact the cooking versions repainted into Sprint livery with added stripes and badges.

And the moral of this tale is that there's nowt new under the sun. :D

Must keep the camera facing forwards even when I'm only going to somewhere I've been a thousand times before, but today, in the Spanish Battery at Tynemouth, I did see an absolutely effin' gorgeous MK1 Escort 2 door saloon on a '71-'72 K suffix.
Best bit was that it was a 1300XL on original 12" steel wheels, with correct trim, a lovely shade of '70s Ford metallic brown paint and a woman who appeared to be about 120 years of age driving the thing. She deserves respect for not having been corrupted by the stupid money being realised by decent 2 door shells. :thumbsup:

OK, so they're still white goods by comparison to the Toledo or (curved ball) the Simca 1301 of the period, but good to see for all that. :)

I saw an absolutely beautiful blue K reg Spitfire today. It was immaculate, a polished gem of a car - nicest one I've seen by a long shot and a real credit to its owner who seemed to be just making the most of a fine day in a lovely little convertible. It inspired me to spend a bit of time bombing along the leafy Hampshire lanes in my Sprint, with the roof open and no real destination. It's so nice to go for a drive purely for enjoyment, and having the roof open on an afternoon like this is well worth spending the rest of the time worrying if it'll leak, and swearing when it does.

I have to say that looks substantially cooler than that Peugoet trike effort with the tiltiing wheels, but then it seems to loose a lot of width
advantage and round here would be unrideable on lots of roads cos of the idiotic speed bumps.

Still not as cool as the offering made by Grinnell (of TR8 fame) quite near me. Don't have a pic to hand but its a side by side 2 seater trike with single rear wheel, wheel steering and a humungous BMW bike engine!

and speaking of things that are not all they appear to be (like that Elan) how about this?

Looks like a big Healey but carries a '98 S plate and a Rover V8 lump!
I think the badge said Sebring or something similar!

Spotted an XK150 in rally livery today heading up the A331 toward Camberley, god it sounded lovely. Must have been from British Racing Green, there's a few in there...

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Out for a walk this morning, in the middle of nowhere I find this old Petrol Pump, been doing nothing for a very long time it would seem, no where near nothing either;

Would be interesting to do some research into as why it was there and as to who it once served.

Then a little later I saw these 3;
