I think my Citroën H van rather lovely. But I'm not denying the need for serious therapy.

Continuing the Citroen theme......

Saw a Visa GTi this morning - nearly passed myself........lusted after one when they were new, can't be many left, as they didn't sell many.

Quirky and definitely a left field choice - ran a 205 gti motor, but an different coil sprung rear end IIRC rather than the torsion bar of the 205.

Gone but not forgotten 2008 BMW M5 (E61) Touring (George, as in Best, as it likes a Drink) to be replaced soon...... Epic epic car

It was lovely precisely for it's faults, that and seeing anything that isn't some kind of VW Golf TDi on my way to the office is quite a novelty.

Today on the M65 near Accrington, a rare non GTi Mk1 Golf 5 door on an A plate. Tidy and unmolested in a fetching shade of babyshit green! Then a couple of miles further on at Blackburn and Darwen services, a tidy 67 Beetle Cabrio and on a transporter a Mk1 Fiesta Firefly limited edition covered in dust and grime but with most of its original graphics still in place.

I don't think I have ever (knowingly) seen one before. :-s

And this couple were admiring Happy whilst we were having our lunch;

I thought that, but no, this was badged as a Astra mate, on K Plate it was.

Also....

Another place, we pulled up. A head appeared out of a motorhome;

"Excuse me can you tell me what car that is please"

"its a Triumph Dolomite" I said

This voice from the gloom within says "See, I told you so"

Head in window explains they were arguing over what car it was, everything for Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, BMW, Ford Cortina, Vauxhall had all been suggested!

The winner got out of doing the washing-up for a week!

An Astra with a boot is indeed a Belmont but only Mk2 and very early mk3s were so badged and it was always an Astra Belmont anyway (like Dolomite and Dolomite Sprint - sort of!) The mk2 Astra Belmont had the dubious distinction of being the "most stolen car in the UK" 3 years running in the early nineties. This was mainly due to there being not very many Belmonts about and them being as easy to steal as an Astra. The figures were based on percentage of cars produced being stolen so the Belmont beat the Astra hands down but finally lost out to the Sierra Cosworth!
Useless fact of the day over!
