Re: Today's Top Spot
I know its not old or rare but today I saw (and more importantly HEARD) the new Merc 300 SLR (the gullwing door one) That 6.3 engine just raises every single hair from the back of the neck to the coccyx! I can understand someone buying it just for the soundtrack! (there is, after all, precious little else to recommend it!)

Today I found this NSU 1200, a car I have never heard of let alone seen before!

All original condition including the paint and crumbling wheel arches.
A cool car.

Re: Today's Top Spot
The swan song of the NSU Prinz cars, about this time NSU merged with Auto Union to form Audi. NSU is more famous for its last (and financially fatal) car, the RO80 with its Wankel rotary engine but the Prinz range of light rear engined cars ran with only minor design changes from the mid 50s.

Absolutely adore the NSU!
They're beautifully engineered cars, I aspire to a 1200TT - a real giant killer!

OH! I learnt to drive in one of those, big imp. Hand painted it with Tecoloid, great spot, again. Do you do anything but spot good cars ? Is the Isle of Wight some hidden jewel for old cars?
Re: Today's Top Spot

Saw this rather splendid XJ-S;

Didn't know they were still making them this late?
and this Austin:

Too big to be a Seven (isn't it?)

On the A5 towards Shrewsbury, at about 18:00 today, a 1974 Opel Manta, in red, registration RNK 449M. Very nice shape. Shades of a Lancia Fulvia about it. Will try to post a picture tomorrow.
Re: Today's Top Spot
I happened across this Soviet T34 last weekend after taking a wrong turn - not exactly the sort of thing one expects to find in Bermondsey! Apologies for the crappy pic - it was tipping it down..

Love the Manta in this shape, there's been a couple go through on the bay recently for quite serious money and not perfect cars either (though one was VERY nice)YoungManGoneWest wrote:Photo, as promised.

Shame they're so rare, tinworm having taken its toll of all but a few but if ever there was perfect home for a sorted Redtop this is it! Myself I think it more resembles a pocket Corvette Mako Shark than a Lancia but is no less desireable for that!

Re: Today's Top Spot
I know its getting near the close season for interesting Classics , but today there were three of them outside Moss in Hanworth. A lovely original MGB on Dutch plates who was over here on holiday with his Wife and had just bought a hard-top at half the quoted price on the Continent. It was very interesting chatting to him. Then there was a nice purple MGBGT and a Mark 1 Triumph 2000 which was in a very good used every day condition. And there was me in the 1850. Quite a good informal gathering.
