I would still be happy to bring along the SE, if useful, provided that I have finished in time the process of replacing the brake pipes. This definitely fits into the category of a restoration in progress! Also happy just to attend, put a few faces to names.

Just spoken to the organisers, no space left unfortunately.

The "good" news is however, I confused the poor lady on the 'phone as she already has us down; 'we' are apparently being represented by a chap called Craig, who is displaying four cars. I tried to stress to her that he has no connection to the Triumph Dolomite Club, but I don't think it sank in.

Apparently the organisers may have 'inadvertently' given Craig, not a member of the TDC the Club's space allocation in the mistaken belief he represents us; this may explain why AP didn't get a returned call for a fortnight?

This Craig however states on the fb page that he's now not going to bother, but the organisers are adamant the space is his. I wonder who will bear the brunt after the show when the organisers have to deal with empty space on the day?

Well we'll use his space problem solved? :)

We can put my Dolly 1300 on the stand, as I'm probably going to sell it :P

Ok, we now find ourselves in a somewhat bizarre situation. Although we are in a position to attend this show and put on a display, at the moment we cannot do so because of lack of space. What has happened is that a group of Dolly owners on Facebook has booked a stand at the show and the organisers have mistaken them for the Triumph Dolomite Club, giving them the space and exhibitor's passes which had been reserved for us. We now understand that the Facebook lads are no longer interested in attending, but the organisers cannot re-allocate their space to us until they get confirmation from the Facebook group that they don't need the space. The organisers have tried to contact a chap called Craig Streeter who booked the stand on behalf of the Facebook group but so far have been unable to get hold of him. If anyone reading this knows Craig, we'd be really grateful if they could bring this to his attention so we can resolve the situation. If it's still the case that the Facebook group are attending the show, then we wish them well with their stand. If they aren't able to put on a display afterall, they need to let Live Promotions know this so that they can re-allocate their space.

I'm on the face book one too, I don't think Craig has been on since the chat with Alun about the show. I will try and wake him up.

Just posted this:

This is how the National Restoration show stands at the mo. The TDC have tried to get a stand but Craig Streeter has booked the last spaces. Craig if you no longer need the spaces can you please contact Live Promotions so that we can have the space. They gave you the space because they thought you were the original TDC.

Can you please let us know URGENTLY what you intend to do.

Hope it helps

A quick update; Craig has been in touch with us and we believe that the situation has been resolved. There will be Dolomites at Stoneleigh :D

OK, lets get 'the show on the road'

So far I believe we have offers of assistance from YMGW, Mad Mart, Tony McK, Bill Shankland, Steve Wilkes, Carledo, The Welsh Contingent and myself making 10 folk which i think is an ideal number. Craig is apparently sending four passes back to Live Promotions; Andy, can you do something about upping this to ten? Also power, is power included. I can speak to Sophie during the week if its not important for a committee member to liaise with Live Promotions

Mart: Steve Wilkes is willing to weld; if you can get your project car there you could get some free welding done on it. Unfortunately my trailer is out of action from the last time it was used by others (it always comes back either broken or with vital parts missing!) so I can't get my white project car there; Carledo, can you help with this one, or is one of your cars a worthy project?

If we can get my white project car there, its the one that has featured twice already, then there is bodywork and mechanicals to be done. Cill welding, GRP front end sorting out, clutch hydraulics master and slave, replacing transmission tunnel after, rear arch paintwork, interior valet (local cats like living in there at the moment...

YMGW: You mentioned your 1500; what needs to be done and can you get it to the show?

Regalia, club memberships and sales will need organising, some Club banners, tables etc...

Tools, axle stands, jacks etc etc

Practical Classics have borrowed a Sprint engine from me for a strip and diagnose feature; it will be returned to me sometime this week in pieces, cleaned and diagnosed. If it doesn't need machining, it could be rebuilt on the day...

Alun,

I have recently acquired, through the good offices of Andy, a replacement gearbox for the SE, and had had it in mind to possibly bring car and box along to effect the transfer (pun intended).

Given the uncertainty over whether there was to be a club stand or not, I held off as long as I could from proceeding with a much-needed complete overhaul of the braking system. With it looking all to be off, I have this weekend removed said system so now, unfortunately, there is no way I can finish the work and get the car to the show.

However, I am very willing to help with any set-up, stand manning, etc., etc. I had written off next weekend given all the uncertainty, but could still be there early Sunday if helpful. Just let me know. PM me for private contact details.

Regards

Alun, if someone was able to trailer VHK to the show for me that would be great. The rear light panel & wheel arch repair panel have just arrived (great service from Rimmers again as I only ordered it on Friday).
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

Great response from all three, thanks.

Mart, can't offer any suggestion for transport for you; no one local to you with a trailer/flat bed that we could rope in?

It would be good if we could have a slideshow of your restorations, but then we'd need a large screen to display. Would you be able to put something together?

Large screen with lap top interface anyone?
