A case of two steps forward one step back today. I'd ordered a re-manufactured bulkhead pad using an original one as a template both for me and a few other members. I went to pick them up today, they looked spot on with a superb cut out that's way better than I could do.
Here they are next to the original one (new one is at the top)
Unfortunately they were made using a different foam than I ordered. I'd specified a closed cell foam as per the sample I was sent but they were made up using more of an open cell. There is nothing wrong with the cutouts and actually they are really good pads but I think a closed cell might be less inclined to absorb any moisture and might be easier to affix to the bulkhead as it's less likely to absorb the adhesive.
Fortunately they have agreed to re-make them all in the closed cell foam but I have kept hold of the open cell foam ones just in case, they may well be sold. So whilst it's disappointing not to get the right pad today (and disappointing for others who ordered one) they will be spot on when made in the correct foam and best of all the sample has been digitised which means that anyone wanting one in the future will have no problems ordering one and having it made up. It may even become part of the range.
