Good to know Tony.

I am still seeing them about...it's just I stopped posting them here as I seem to be the only one, plus since JPB has stopped joining in I felt it was all a bit of a fruitless exercise.

However, my latest was these two yesterday lunchtime:



The Elf, I remember a few years back taking another picture of this car for a similar topic on another old car forum, whilst I was doing so this old fella came up to me and asked if it was mine.

Anyway the conversation grew as it turned out that he was a former BMC car salesman, he probably sold this car when it was new. He could even tell me the name of the two brown colours.

Shame the real owner wasn't there as I am sure they would of been thrilled to have met him.

Absolutely dont stop....

I aint seen much lately as the run home is now in the dark....and I tend not to subject my own classic fleet to dark and damp roads quite so much...so I can hardly complain
when others do the same...

Of course on the sub tropical IoW and where folk lead simpler lives where a classic can do all the automtove jobs, I wouldnt expect the season change to matter so much...

This weeks automotove amusement was brought about witnessing my female work colleaugue driving her Mondeo tdci like a hooligan near Bracknell....appearing in my mirror at a rate of knots from nowhere, passing me rapdily and then "undertaking" 2 cars beautifully at the next roundabout...
Ho ho still beat her to the office as I went the "secret" way...

I'm afraid the Moss car park was nothing like so interesting the following day Tony...just the usual rat look 2.5 pi mk1 owned by one of the staff which no longer counts really...

Which I thought was just some sort of mash up from an LDV or similar, but no, I had look on the Hpi and it is made by Fleur de Lys.

So a look on the internet....

the Fleur de Lys was the brainchild of Newark patisserie manufacturer, Andreas Liveras. Wishing to have his olde worlde produce delivered in suitably vintage vehicles but unable to find anyone who could make what he wanted, he decided to design and produce them himself. The result was Fleur de Lys Automobiles, established in 1983, who began to manufacture reproduction 1920s-style delivery vans from a purpose built factory in Newark. Today the vehicles are sold all over the world.

The vans were designed by Len Terry, a leading engineer in the Lotus team which won the Formula One Championships in 1963 and 1965. They are built using traditional coachbuilding techniques but using modern materials and engineering standards. The doors, bonnet and mudguards are aluminium and period features include the specially built brass radiator cowl and die-cast aluminium artillery-type road wheels.

So a unique pie van!

and I saw a C plate ADO16 of the Astin 1100 variety on the way home from work...sadly dark but it was dark green and on the outskirts of Bracknell...

Nice to see such an early one....must be one of the earliest extant....very tidy and well driven, but sadly left behind as I was late....ok on the twiddly bits as I
totally expected, but no hiding the paltry total of 50 bhp on the straight bits...

Not sure if it counts when something is seen in a museum rather than spotted, but a very nice pair of Vitesses seen today, in the Llangollen Motor Museum, a delightfully quirky private collection that is well worth a visit, for the display's Gilbern GT alone in my opinion.
