Mondeo & X-Type Jag

#1 Post by MalcGE »

Any of you guys now how much of the supsension is common. My Dads X-Type has just broken a coil spring on the front suspension.

I'm wondering if current model Mondeo is the same.

Don't really want to go down the Main Stealers expecially the leaping Cat type as one has to pay for the priveledge of being in a showroom where anything under £30k is considered 'cheap'

Don't know myself but know a man who does - Kimbo, I'll email him and get him to post (assuming that he knows that is).

Unique to the Jag.
I'll try and find out more tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure that X400 has unique p/no prefixes, and has it's own springs.

I'll be in touch!

fundamentally they are the same but may have different spring sizes, ratings etc. Mondeo has slightly stiffer springs if I remember. Looks like a trip to The main stealers unfortunately unless you can find one in scrappie thats been written off. Probably safer to go for a pair of new ones.

Register at Jaglovers on the web. If no-one knows there then the answer isn't known anywhere.

NOT the same as Mondeo.

Need to know whether its rwd or fwd, comfort or sport and whether a 2.5 or 3.0. After that I can source you the cheapest new aftermarket pair 'on the market', but you'd have to pick up from the Longbridge area

Sorry about that chaps, but it is amazing how we are all 'connected', feel free to move to the general section now.

Thus far i've identified about 4 spring rates (colour codes)

Yellow (Think) 2.1 V6 Petrol
Green Green 2.5 V6SE Auto
Purple 2.5VS Sport
Orange 2.0D

Reminds me of dolomites before the springs got all rusted up

Sorry, only just picked up Stan's email - but I see that the question has been answered now anyway.
Quite correct that the basic set-up is the same, but spring rates will be different.
Anyway, far safer to throw the lot away and order an XF...

All sorted now :D as with many things, bit harder than I thought it would be, but learnt a thing or two.

For those interested, see a similar environment (quite handy really as you can easily switch between the two)
