pinto/dolly
hi guys
been thinking about changing engine in my dolly!
thought about zetec but will need all that ecu stuff and throttle bodies etc...way to much trouble!!!
thought about crossflow. but to make one fly will cost a heap of money!
so pinto it is.
i recon i should be able to build a 2.2L motor for a resonable amount of money. looking for 150-160 bhp
as any put a pinto into a dolly before? if ant idea what problems i'm gonna have?
cheers terry

It's a huge lump of iron in your engine bay that will weigh more than a sprint engine for less power, will involve a fair amount of fabrication, and won't be worth as much as if you put a sprint engine in.
It's possible to get a completely STANDARD sprint engine to 150bhp just by rebuilding it to factory spec and setting it up properly. That's without any modifications to carbs, filter or cams or anything. Plus the sprint engine really is a bolt-in conversion.
Sorry to sound a bit negative, but it's an awful lot of work to go to for no real performance benefit.

Yes you will need to change the subframe ?
I mean I guess you could fabricate the 1300 one, buts its not really worth the hassle. Sprint subframes are obtainable, often if you are picking up an engine you could get a subframe too.
Sprint Engines start from around a hundred and go up.....
There have been a couple of sheddy sprints that you could get all the running gear from on the bay recently, sort of £200 ish - that gets you the rear axle as well......
I have sent you PM as well

The I-4 dohc is the only engine they have ever made that's half decent.

As has been said, the Sprint is 127 bhp standard, stick on a straight thru exhaust and you're up to 137'ish.
I've got a powder-coated sub frame that anyone's welcome to foc if they arrange uplift.
