Just to let (prospective) TDC members in England's largest inland county know that, from the new year, Carledo and I will be taking on the role of Shropshire Area Rep, on a shared basis.
This makes sense on two fronts. First, Steve is in the far south-east of the county, and I am in its far west. Second, Steve is a mechanic, and I, let's just say, am not. So, we have complementary geography and skills.
What we now need is thoughts and ideas. We hope to get together shortly to talk through initial ideas, and we'd like to hear the thoughts of those in the county or on its fringes:
- what are the opportunities?
- what would you like to see organised/arranged?
- where and when are the various shows in the county?
- what skills and/or help could you provide?
- who and where you are (so that we can build a list, for communication purposes)
Responses either via this thread or PM very welcome.
Regards,
Richard

I'm not too far away in Worcestershire.. would certainly be interested in the odd meet up etc. Does the club ever do anything at any of the classic car events at the Malvern Three Counties Showground? There's usually several each year (inc the huge TR event) who welcome clubs and groups etc.
Re: * Shropshire Area *
Just got in from a meeting of the TSSC, on the back of which Steve (Carledo) and I piggy-backed. Will hopefully shortly be communicating some opportunities for meetings and outings ... watch this space.
Re: * Shropshire Area *
Just to keep up to date. The database of information on members, and lapsed members, in Shropshire and Powys - it has been agreed that the latter will be paired with the former given the geography - has now been validated. This was a useful exercise in itself, as it brought contact information up to date and, fingers crossed, will result in a couple of renewals.
Next step will be to find out what events are planned in and around the two counties of the area, and communicate these to all on the updated database. If you have any knowledge of such events in/around Shropshire and Powys, please do let me or Steve (Carledo) know.
One thing that came out of talking to each person on the database was instances of the car being owned from new, retained in the same family, or bought back some years after disposal. Thought it might be a nice idea to 'feature' each owner and car in turn, on both the forum and in the magazine. Watch this space.
Best wishes.

Re: * Shropshire Area *
....without wishing to hijack the Shropshire thread, there is a classic car breakfast meeting on the 3rd Sunday of every month at the filling station in Malvern (Spring Lane). I think it's fairly new and i've not been before so can't comment on how well attended it is. Next one is this weekend but I'm going to the MG event at Stoneleigh so can't make it. Will try and make the effort in March though.
