Well not today, but a few spots from down under...

Very few Triumphs, in fact only 2 stags the whole 3 week trip....one nice pimento red one with a 2.5 TC engine seen at the University of Queenlsand and with the rego number STAG8. Long conversation with the owner revealed the original engine is under rebuild and will be refitted in due course. The 2.5 just needed a different cross member and he also had the seats redone in a very dolomite like bri nylon as a concession to the Brisbane sun. Later saw a very nice yellow one driving near the big bridge with the rear part of the hood clipped up. Never seen that in the UK.

Then saw a lovely red daimler dart at Noosa and a very nice MGB at the Koala sanctuary. Other than the classics seem pretty rare in Queensland although I was assured by the stag owner that I was just unlucky.

Down in Sydney it wasn't a lot better classic wise. The odd old holden and ford falcon from the late 60's or 70s and the odd fintail merc or mustang, one S1 RR cloud parked in the street in Ryde and a very tidy P5 Rover 3 litre seen driving near the town centre.

A japanese old oddity was a Mazda 929 seen on the freeway on the way to the blue mountains. Never seen one of those before and I doubt I ever will again...Clearly Mazda's take on the luxo barge theme of the time and not a very good either!

A sunny Sunday lunchtime is always good for Classics ! I passed a nice Turquoise convertible TR7 with the hood down, Wave wave on the A3095 and further on there was a cream Magnette ( ZA I think its called ) on the A327. I need a car-mounted camera I think.

Nice white Triumph 1300 (I think) heading the opposite way to me on the Greenstead Estate, Colchester. Passed it on a bend so only time for a quick wave. Looked a nicely kept car

Candidate for most expensive pile up ever today when I was following a lovely blue 456GT with reg P456??? round the silly isles in Esher and as we proceeded up the road to Hampton Court a guy in a vintage open rolls royce silver ghost type of mid 20's style with roof down pulls acroos the road in front of the ferrari from the other direction into the pub car park. Looked a bit tight and maybe 456 guy flashed to let him across, but I was thinking that would have been some insurance claim if it had all gone pear shaped. Of course the Roller may have been a kit car but it certainly looked like the real thing to my amateur eyes and very nice too....as was the 456 which made me drive with the windows open to hear the sound of it.

mmmm Italian V12's....cant beat that noise.

must get a dash cam...

Not that exciting but it made me smile and I hope to catch on camera tomorrow. Blue Austin Allegro with a sort of suede effect vinyl roof. Looked alright from the back but was suffering from some interesting repairs to the front end.
Also (I'll get some pictures up soon) our milkmen are on predominantly 72 or 73 plated floats. It made me very happy to overtake one on my '65 pedal and pop outside our fantastic coin op laundrette. It was like falling though a window in time!

An ex Southern Vectis Bristol LD Lodeka double deck bus with PDL reg number, by Marble Hill park.

It was now in some sort of cream and red cheat line colours and had a few curtains. In fact the overall effect was a bit hippy peace convoy
but it made me smile to see one of these again. I used to regularly ride on these, but Hants and Dorsets ones when I was a nipper.

DL is an Isle of Wight registration. An old (now late) friend owned YDL 220 as a cherished number. the inevitablle silly questions always got the same answer, "well YDL not?"
