No Power - 1500 fwd

#1 Post by LAWFIELD »

I can't understand it. I went up the A1 to Wakefield yesterday at a steady 60 mph and then back down the M1 at about 65/70 mph a total round trip of about 50 miles. Today I got in the car to go to work started fine but after about 100 yds down the road the car started to cough and splutter and cut out several times. I managed to get the car back home. Tonight I've been cleaning out the filters, had the carb off etc but apart fm some debris in the filter I can't find anything wrong, car still not running with any power, will tick over but when I try and pull off the car splutters.

Any ideas would be most welcome

Thanks

Condensor springs to mind. But it sounds like something in the ignition.

a sromberg being a 1500 fwd? If so I suspect a split diaphram...will idle fine but no power.

If its an SU suspect the fuel pump or a split breather hose. Coil and ignition should be checked out too.

The 1500fwd has a single SU HS4 carb.

Check ignition first before moving on to the fuel system.
