how many L reg Sprints?

#1 Post by David6214 »

Saw this car from oxdonian

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... otohosting

listed as probably one of ten or so L-Reg that still survive....are they really that rare.

Lens was on dolly mixture, theres one right near here (:)) and I thought there should be more than that. I don't doubt Mr oxdonians estimate, he knows lots more about dollies than I do, I was just curious....

Oh for those numbers from the DVLA!

No that isn't an early car.

It also has the side rubbing strips, short underiders and no top panel Triumph badge, along with the other observations that isn't the car it is being marketed as.

Everything about it says it's a late Sprint. Probably a '78 as it has single line brakes.
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

I agree with Mart - definately '76-'78. Tahiti discontinued in 1978, which makes it no later than that. Rear bumper from post '76 car, unless the whole car is a "bitsa"...

All that has been said above is correct. There are quite a few genuine L platers around.

IMHO the car has not been reshelled at all. Its been ringed ie, old number plate on newer car, probably to get around emmisions?

Nah, probably thought it was worth more as an early one.

Surely if anything its old sprint running gear and plates into a later 1850 shell or similar. I'd be very surprise dif it wasn't an earlu engine box etc. I'd guess its all genuine early running gear and a later body

Nah

Whatever, it's all poo and wrong.

Wrong expansion tank, wrong stat housing, wrong washer bottle, no mention of engine number to substantiate early VA number, not to mention all that has been very well spotted in all the above posts. The bonnet used to be red too!

If it was one of the first 800, there must be some yellow somewhere? Too much of the car smacks of one much younger. Swap plates and comm plate = 10 minutes and no emissions probs. I'll bet me hat that neither the block, box or axle are anywhere near VA800.
