Anywhere other than robber brothers for chome trim clips and windscreen rubbers.

£60 for a window rubber hurts.

Im also after new clips and trim bits for the chrome that runs along side the middle of the door

Try fitchetts but I think they all only sell the Baines rubber anyway, which has the wrong size channel for a laminated screen and will leak...

Its much cheaper from Baines direct.

I had my tame windscreen man round the other day, (for a Pajero screen) while he was there I asked him about new rubbers for my Sprint since a) they're pretty knackered and b) I want to take all the glass out to paint it.
So I says, casually, so do you get the new rubbers or is it down to me? He said its no problem to get the rubbers, front and rear and he keeps the bright strip moulding in stock. Admittedly he does specialise in older vehicles and competition stuff and only does moderns for trade customers like me who he has been dealing with for years.
I could give him a bell and ask for prices if you like (Its not occurred to me to ask how much for myself - the car needs the bits so the price is academic - I know he won't rob me!)

Why not ask him for a bulk supply price Steve?

Could do, its worth a try, what sort of numbers do you think? 25 front and 10 rear to start?

I need a front very quickly.....
And would take a rear if it's the old style with no trim.

Hi everybody, I recently found a much cheaper site than rimmer, front rubber as £32.50 and rear £39.50. All the parts are much cheaper. The site is http://www.winsintltd.co.uk. check out their tinted screens compared to rimmer, and much more. Happy motoring boys.

Hi all,
Quite interested to see this subject being discused again.
Yes I would be very interested in a front/rear windscreen rubber and chrome moulding.
But as long as it's not made by Baines as I never got to the bottom of the problem with them.
I was reading Jonners comment about laminated screens not fitting a Baines rubber which could have be
my problem. But I also found the expansion grove in the rubber was not deep enough for the moulding, hence
the chrome trim sitting up.
My Sprint is in a lock up waiting for me to get around to doing a overhaul so if someone can get rubbers to do
the job correctly I would buy them and store them so count me in.
Cheers gary

Wins and Mev get their seals from Baines.

I asked them both.

The price difference is down to overheads and mark up.

Steve ask your man where he gets his seals from....

A pound to a penny its Baines.....

This ought to become a club priority remanufacture issue....

Every dolomite with a Baines seal has the front floor and windscreen pillar and goodness knows what else at risk from water leaks....

I will definitely ask him Jonners, but in previous conversations with him on this subject, he's said that he's had no leak problems with seals that he's fitted "properly" - Arrogant bugger, but he can afford to be, he's that good!
I do agree with you however that club re-manufacture is a good idea, back when I was with the MkII Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac OC we had several runs made 100 at a time and I'm sure there are more Dollys about now than there were Fords of that type about then but we still made them affordable! (bad pun!)

Steve

Of course the real question is, where do we get a new original Sprint laminated screen rubber to copy?

Hi All,
For some reason I keep part of my old rubber and this is what I compared the difference
in measurements to the Baines rubber.
I tell you what I got so many different stories over the last 2 years.
Baines quote "we don't make a dolomite rubber it's for a Toledo!!!"
The rubber had been re made and is now ok (2nd rubber I got was same as first)
and so on and on. So I would be happy to send part of my cut up rubber but a complete
laminated rubber would be a real bonus.
It would be great for them to be a club stock item and members could buy with confidence.
Cheers gary.
