Anti roll bar link end snapped

#1 Post by nutter81 »

So my 1850 has been back on the road now for a week. The nearside linkend of the front antiroll bar has just snapped. They are the jigsaw polybushed versions. Has this happend to anyone else and has anyone got any spare, so I can send mine back to jigsaw.

No, but I did notice the welds on mine were cracked... Well unimpressed with the quality. So I re-welded them.

Ok so re-welding them is a solution\option. As at £95 plus vat another set is not an option

Completely agree with Mike, I needed mine the next day though, so had no choice really.

Jigsaw.... The clue is in the name.
Some people are like Slinky's, they serve no real purpose in life but bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Some Dollys run with no roll bar so why not, the problem can't get much worse.

so after moving house and getting in to some sort of order i called jigsaw and they are sending me replacements with no questions asked. All i have to do is send the broken ones back. I personally think, that is customer service

No question asked = you are number 103 that has snapped roll bar links.
Sending replacements = Getting the same and snap again within time.

That's a pessimistic view of it. Another would be to say they have done the best thing possible under the circumstances. Top marks IMO.

Lets see what happens with the replacements before making a final judgement.

Sorry I'm with Jeroen on this....

I have OE anti roll bar links that are all 120k plus miles old and never had an issue...
I suspect its that you have polybushed the inner wishbones, and that is over stressing the ARB ends.
Get some OE wishbone rose joints and all will be well..

Maybe 0,5% of me is pessimistic but it's reality. Of my 38 years of age i'm now working 21 years in classics and am 15 years searching every part all over the world for every thinkeable classic car. 50% NOS and 50% reman and from the reman parts about 75% is made in Boogie Woogie and of very bad quality. Sending a replacement does not mean it's different than you did receive before. There's one manufacturer that i like most of the time and that's a company called Genuine. It's name is on a lot of parts boxes and most of the time the best available.

I have to add, being old enough to remember British Leyland, I remember that that name was a by word for shoddiness and poor manufacturing, yet today, genuine new old stock items manufactured by British Leyland are held in great regard.

Funny how time changes people's perception .
