I know where the Malt Shovel is. It is a bit out of the way. It could be used if we were to move the meetings round different venues. The Hitching Post sounds good as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the Farmers has indeed shut down. There used to be The Junction opposite which I know has been demolished even though it still appears on Google Maps. I've seen many of my old haunts shut down or otherwise put to different uses.

The next step is to check out these possible venues.

I've had a phone call tonight from a member who has told me that Farmers has shut down. Being situated on a dual carriageway, it can be awkward getting to it from one direction and leaving it the other way. Looks like the Hitching Post which Bob mentioned earlier could be the venue of choice. I really must take a look soon...

I'm going to leave this until next year. I'm too busy with my 1850 and money's a bit tight with taxing and insuring the Astra (both coming at once!). When I get the chance I'll check out the venue.

Went to the Hitching Post on Sat pm. with son and wife. Havent been for a while, last time was excelent but it looks to have changed hands. The carverey was cheaper, from £4.99, but not as good as before. Beef good, turkey dry, veg cold and bland, yorks pudds rubbery and cold, so poor didnt order a pud. People on the next table had ordered from the menue and they didnt seem very impressed either. Seems a shame, last time I went was with my other son and his family who is a head chef and he was very impressed with the place.

I therefore wish to redact my recommendation of the place on the quality of the food.

Other suggestions will follow, The Noble Comb in Shipley could be looked at but gets very busy, but advised by daughter that you can book tables.

Thanks for checking it out for me. Perhaps another visit to make sure that the problems weren't just a blip. The staff could be having an off day (it does happen). This wet and cold weather does dampen my enthusiasm a bit but I'm trying to keep on going with my 1850 and the Russett is slowly being banished.

There's a Toby Carvery which I pass every day on my way home from work. It is The Old Pavillion on Rooley Lane in Bradford. I've found their website HERE I considered this venue when I started up the local area meeting for Club Triumph. It is on a dual carriageway but it is close to the motorway network and it is easy to find. It is situated between Asda and the head office for Yorkshire Building Society. There's also the local M&S distribution centre nearby. If I ever get chance, I'll check it out. I once went to a carvery and it was one of the best Sunday meals I've had.

I'm going to the West Yorkshire TSSC meeting tonight so I'll stop by at The Old Pavillion on my way home.

The only other venue I can think of if this isn't a go-er is the Old Brickworks in Drighlington which is near to junction 27 of the M62. There's also a Permier Inn there round the back. This was the venue for my ill-fated Club Triumph West Yorkshire meetings.

I called in at The Old Pavilion and it appears to tick all the boxes. I had a quick word with the manager and because it gets so busy on Sundays (the sign of a good place) he would be unable to accommodate our monthly meeting. On the other hand, I did think of a couple of possible venues tonight. One is The Railway in Drighlington which isn't too far from the Old Brickworks. The other place which I passed tonight is The Hunsworth which is right next to Junction 26 of the M62 and like the Old Brickworks has a Permier Inn right next to it so I'm not out of ideas yet.

I went to The Railway on Friday and they can't accommodate us either. I'm seriously going to have to rethink which day of the week to hold it on as Sunday is one of the busiest days for pubs and suchlike, especially those that serve food. I passed the Farmers not so long ago and it looked like it was still open.

I really need to get my finger out on this one. Sundays are definitely out because the pubs I've tried are busy on that day so I reckon that Monday would be the best day. The Railway would be an ideal venue as it is centrally located in the county and is close to the motorway network. I used to run the local Club Triumph meetings at the nearby Old Brickworks and chose that venue for the same reasons so that could be an option too. I'll make my decision and let Steve W. know in due course in time for the next edition of the magazine.

I need to get this one sorted out. The warmer longer days are back with us so something needs sorting out. A Sunday meeting is definitely out and I remember a few saying that Tuesdays are out too so I'll try for a Monday.

I've been AO for just over a year and much to my shame, I have not sorted this out so I need to address this.

When I saw Roger & Kath at the Bradford Classic, Roger suggested a venue where one of the other clubs they're a member of (Bramley Motor Club) hold their meetings. It is near to Bramley train station (which I pass through on my way to and from work). Kath was going to e-mail me with the details but I've done a Google search of the club and the venue both of which have their own websites. The venue is the Hollies Sports and Social Club so I'll need to pay them a visit or give them a call. From what I can gather from Roger, they're hoping to encourage other car clubs to hold meetings there so it is worth checking out. I also mentioned the 2 places in Drighlington (The Railway and The Old Brickworks) as possible venues so I won't count these out just yet.

I gave the Hollies a call and Monday is definitely out for them. They told me that Tuesday would be the best and they suggested that I go over after 7pm on a weekday evening to take a look.
