great job Rich, fantastic work. Lots of effort is going into this car and it looks to be a gem, great stuff.
I wondered why you wire brushed your drag struts and didn't use electrolysis since you had the set up already ?
I'm in slight awe about how much you achieve in such a small workspace. I lift my hat to you for getting the work done and methodically solving everything. Well done mate, well done.

Wow thanks alot! A lot has been achived but it's a joint effort between me and my best mate Matthew. The best feeling in the world is when someone else appreciates how much work goes into something. Gives me the enthusiasm to keep going:D
The only reason I didn't use the elsectrolosis tank is time. It takes around 2-3 days to get a perfect result and that's per item unless you can join the items together effectively. Best way is with a little weld but for small items like that is easier to give them a run Over with the grinder.
More tomorrow.
Thanks again!

Re: GUH 731W A tale of happiness then woe then more happiness
Lots more done today.
Fitted all new brake lines to the axle.

Then fitted the axle with the help of my mam

Tightened everything up and rolled her out for a meeting with the mg. I taped the front splitter and boot spoiler on to have a tidy look. What do you think?

That's all for today:) got to save up for the engine now. So if I put anything up for sale if you buy it then your contributing to keeping a dolly going

Re: GUH 731W A tale of happiness then woe then more happiness
I bought it from this forum a year or so ago
cool isn't it

Re: GUH 731W A tale of happiness then woe then more happines
Started prep on the car ready for the sprint engine:D first I removed the old modified 1300 subframe.

Had a poke at the chassis rail that looked a bit crusty. And found this!

Hmm that's going to need some welding!
But whilst waiting for Funds for a new chassis rail I got cracking cleaning up the new sprint subframe.
Before

And after

Sorry for the bad pictures of the new subframe.
More to come soon:D

Nice one Rich...
Your new diff wont be in that long then. You will need a Sprint diff to handle Sprint power I'm sure you know.
If you are short of any mounting bits let me know...

I bloody hope that diff will last Jon! It is a sprint diff:p
I'm sure I'll be in touch for little bits here and there:D

Ok. Long time no speak! But lots is happening. Not massively great with words so I'll just let the pictures do the talking:D
Car was briefly in a big garage/tent in the garden for some work.

Front end stripped

I then took the car back to my garage so I could concentrate on the engine first:)

Lots of pictures here:)

I then cleaned the block best I could.

Then took the block into work to be collected for a rebore and Crank regrind. Only have an mx5 so that's what it went in:D

Came back all nice and shiny:D

Time for reassembly

Recon head with new piper fast road camshaft

That's all so far. But lots of parts bought ready. Best way to show this is my Christmas tree this year

More to come guys:D
