PS what Jod said about the metal brake pipes is the pure Gospel, I just replaced everything aft of the front subframe on the diesel car for the MOT, the old ones came off in broken 6" sections, the worst bits were, as usual, the hardest to see! Plus the unions were so badly seized in the rear flexis, I had to put 2 new flexis on as well!
On no, not a Ford Mondeo!

TDCi and TDDi are both chqain-driven. If you have the chance to punt this car, do. They are almost worthless.

Re: On no, not a Ford Mondeo!
It would be the perfect opportunity to see a small profit. I know that it would fail the MoT on the brakes alone (ABS light, handbrake below efficiency and the worn brake discs). If this car was a keeper by either of us then everything would get done without worrying about trying to make a profit. I was considering doing the same thing myself but I've no space to keep another car and my money will be going on the 1850's MoT (I might as well put money into my own cars instead of buying another of unknown quantity).

I think he has sold the car. It wasn't there when I passed by this evening.

Re: On no, not a Ford Mondeo!
You must have Reg, my Duratec car had a bill with it for a new clutch and DMF fitted late 2011 for over £1100! It was alleged to have a new engine fitted at 90k (now 151k) has used 4 ltrs oil in last 1300 miles! And a week after selling it, it came back with a stuck thermostat, the new one cost me £65 and half a days labour to change. The rear wheel bearings were £54 EACH!Reg wrote:I must have a good one then..done 37,000mls in two years, apart from general servicing, only thing major was a new clutch and a water pump.Carledo wrote:I just sold an 02 Duratec petrol 2ltr Ghia for £600 (and lost money on it due to a catalogue of faults including air bag light, BOTH rear wheel bearings and two broken springs, one of which also took out a tyre while I was driving it!)
