I would just treat that headlight retaining panel, unless its a lot crumblier than it looks. If you sand it back and bilt hamber or similar treat it you will get another 5 years out of it. Drilling out the spot welds is quite a fiddle.

The headlight panel is pretty rotten on the outer light half the panel is either splitting or very thin lots of flexibilty to it! The inner light is solid still. Need one of the clubs inner valance repair panels when back in stock as that's gone as well. If I put it all back together it would not affect getting the MOT but don't want to see the rot spread to other areas. That whole corner of the car was one big hole on my 1500fwd.
That headlamp panel needs replacing deffo, it's almost in half with rust in the middle bottom section , the headlights would wobble all over the place when driving , keep up the good work

Need a day to drop the prop shaft and remove the exhaust and fix the diff and gearbox leaks. The diff is the worst bearing in mind its not been driven its streaming down from the pinion oil seal. Still frustrated in my search for a near side rear door want to get that on and get on with filling the rear wing Then it will be time to get a mig welder to get cracking with the chassis rail.
Going back the the outer headlight retaining panels, I would recommend the club panels. At £35 each, they're an absolute steal. The saving made will pay for a years's membership. Well worth every penny.

Thanks and I agree so have already chatted with the powers that be and have one reserved for when the club has the valance repair sections back in stock and will send them both out together.
Had a small jaunt to a breakers in Norwich today and am chuffed to have returned with a very good door which as luck would have it is also green. Picked up some grubby but with a clean good door cards and parcel shelf without speaker holes and some chrome trim. To be honest there was nothing else to grab except wet seats.
Look forward to getting it fitted and the back n/s quarter filled in the next couple of weeks and actually have some progress piccies to post!

There are small scabs of rust along the bottom edge and one patch of slight surface rust.
A small ding from another door in a car park but other than that its very good. Only £40 quid and probably as much again in fuel to go and get it.
Good and the right colour was very lucky though.
Called loads of local Kent and Sussex breakers and the theme from all was pretty consistent and went "Cor' you'll be lucky!"
Just out of interest Maidstonerob, what was the name of the breakers in Norwich where you got that door from? Was there anything left on the car that it came from? What model was it??
To be honest there wasn't much left. I has spotted it on ebay apparently they got it as a rolling shell. No mechanicals present just the doors seats and carpet. I had some of the chrome trim the door cards parcel shelf and the nsr door.
The other doors weren't great and the dash was completely trashed. It had the transmission tunnel from memory. All running gear was gone.
Slim pickings to be honest. As the seats had head rests I'd say it was a HL but no way to identify which. No sprint badges and the tailgate and bonnet front valance were also missing sorry.
