Decided to treat myself to a new toy, a hydraulic press. I opted for the bench mounted one as really the floor mounted one is really rather large. I still need to sort out a bench but in the meantime it's on a skateboard so I can wheel it around and use it, albeit at a low level.
So far seems pretty neat though I am having issues with the pump. With it mounted as per instructions then the ram will move about 5cm and stop. If I remove the pump and place it next to the frame it works fine. No air in the system but most frustrating. I removed a bush in a trailing arm last night and it made a tricky job very easy.

I bought a 12 ton press a couple of months ago - they really are quite reasonable now - mine was less than £80 delivered to the house and I've already done a couple of jobs which I simply would not have been able to do otherwise...useful bits of kit
When you get a bench sorted, make a big hole under the centre of the press. When you want to push a bearing onto a half shaft or similar you'll need the hole to put the shaft through
Issues with ram travel now resolved. Made very light work of old bush removal, quite why you'd use a vice is beyond me. Pressing in the new bushes will be fairly easy with any luck.
