Sprint MVS 311V. Anyone know of it?
Sprint MVS 311V. Anyone know of it?
Probably a long shot this.
In 1989 I bought a Russet Brown Sprint registration MVS 311V.
I had the car completely re-sprayed in black and fitted genuine Sprint silver coachlines.
The engine was a bit smoky on start up, so I obtained a spare and re-built it. The crank was re-ground and fitted with Vandervell bearings, I ported the head, matched it to the inlet manifold and fitted a Triumphtune 'Road' camshaft. It already had a sport exhaust with twin tail-pipes and K&N air filters. It used to go really well at the time.
The dash was re-veneered in burr walnut by a friend who was an antiques restorer and I then applied 10 coats of 2 pack laquer.
It still had the tan interior which looked fine with the black paint.
I sold the car to a chap in Bournemouth in September 1992 and bought a TR6 later that year. According to the DVLA website the car was last taxed in 1996. I am sure it is long since dead but, being a non standard colour with an unusual dash, I wondered if any of you had come across the car in the past.
I need to build myself a garage and get another Sprint in it!

72 views and no one has come across MVS so I guess it must be dead

Re: Sprint MVS 311V. Anyone know of it?
It's not so eay to check on the Dvla anymore since the introduction of no tax discs, previously you could put the reg number in and it would tell you if the car was sorn or when the tax was next due to see if it's still out there

You can still check - https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/mahony wrote:It's not so eay to check on the Dvla anymore since the introduction of no tax discs, previously you could put the reg number in and it would tell you if the car was sorn or when the tax was next due to see if it's still out there
It says the last tax on MVS311V expired April 1996 - so it's not been on the road for a long time, but might still be lurking in a barn/garage somewhere...

Jim (2drtoledo) lives Bournemouth way & seems to know all things Dolomite in that neck of the wood.
Unfortunately he does not seem to visit this forum anymore, although I think he does use the Facebook group.
Maybe someone on here who knows Jim via Facebook could pass on the request.

Owned by Stuart Steckel when it was brown, then Glen Morgan when it was black, both in the South East and Surrey area and last heard of owned by Ben Giles in the South and West. Based on 1997 records.
Re: Sprint MVS 311V. Anyone know of it?
Thanks chaps.
I had noticed that you couldn't do a vehicle enquiry on the main tax disc page anymore, so that other link is useful.
I bought the car from Stuart Steckel. I did contact the owner prior to that and he had a fast road cam and HS8s fitted to it. If I remember rightly something happened to the cam and he returned it to standard but he said it was never quite the same again, so he sold it.
I guess it was Ben that I sold it to.
It was reasonably sound when I sold it, so unless it was involved in an accident it could be tucked away somewhere.
If I can find a photo I will post one on here.

Re: Sprint MVS 311V. Anyone know of it?
I'm not a huge fan of brown as a car colour, but I preferred yours before the respray, even with the rubber boot spoiler. However, maybe that's because a mate of mine had a brown sprint, and it's your car after all. In case you haven't been told already, the front indicators/sidelights are on the "wrong" way round.
