I remember the previous owner (Colin AKA Sprintinbits) who started on the resto and ended up buying a Brooklands Sprint and started working on that on also. I remember selling him a pair of chrome wiper arms. His resto thread is HERE

Is there a colour which isn't rare?

Pimento on an R feels a little late to me, is it an early chassis that sat before being registered?

What happened to Colin? Does he still have the green Sprint?

I didn't know that this was the Sprint that passed through Ken's hands.

Yes this is Colin's/Ken's Sprint which they were going to make into a track car.

Colin still has the green Sprint but I believe that is in storage awaiting a new cill.

So Mart, now we know what car it is, what has tempted you into restoring another sprint, and what do you have planned for it?

Superb!

Will this be restored back to factory standard or have you got something else in mind...?!

I know Pimento is quite a rare colour so it'll be nice to see this one back in that shade...

Please do keep us regularly informed sir...!!!

True, everything is getting rare these days. Pimento is indeed considered an early colour, 74, 75, 76 ish with the Flamenco Red following 77 to 78 ish and then on to Vermillion. Then of course, a quick 'blow over' at 'Wepaintemwhileuwait' and it can be any shade of red one wants.

Great to see this car getting another bite of the cherry of life. I remember it having some very nice fabrication and welding being done - in particular I seem to remember the base of the windscreen being repaired nicely - that has to be a big bonus.

As you know, I had intended to restore a Stag next, just for a change. I haven't actually been searching that much as I wanted a bit of time-out from doing restos. But out of the blue I get a PM from Ken, a couple of weeks ago, asking me if I would like to take on XJX as, for various reasons, Colin and himself could no longer continue with it. After many questions and a few days to think about it, I agreed to take it on. Mary was also excited with the prospect of another Sprint resto.

The Sprint will be restored to a similar condition as the previous seven restos and it will sport the original colour.

The Sprint is being picked up today but probably won't be delivered until tomorrow.
