Totally agree with previous comments and the best of luck to you.
It will be hard work and at times totally demoralising especially when you think you have a solid bit of metal to fix/weld to and to find out it is rotten as hell! But after weeks and months when you can see the project coming together it is so pleasing and makes you proud to say 'I did that'.
Keep the photos coming.

Re: a start on the sprint
Yes I know all dolomites are increasingly rare but its a simple matter of economics and time.
The cheaper ohv models in good condition maybe are worth keeping original, but something like that
electric blue one with a shot engine is what I had in mind.
Much better for an ohv to give its shell to a Sprint resto than end up scrapped or bangered.

I have a very solid 1500, but it's too good to use as a reshell for my 1850. The 1850 will have to get patched for another year.....
If I could get a decent shell for my 1850, I would use it. But getting one local, decent and at a good price is not easy.

Bill, both your Dolomites are saveable so please try to avoid this if you can. You're not the only one with finite resources...

Re: a start on the sprint
well after another day at the sprint face i am now at the point that once it is all blocked up and safe i will start the rebuild all the doors will be replaced to shot to work on but the floor is good apart from the boot bottom but that is not a hard job to do remake the curves cut out the old and fabricate and weld it in .
nothing inst worth saving if it requires a bit of time and effort so be it the challenge is what makes it interesting to me .
so once i start to replace i will put up some pictures
