New here
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I have bought a FWD 1500 for a restoration project. I will probably start a project thread when I get into it. In the meantime I was just after some background info on these cars.
Were they built at Canley? As I am from and live in Coventry this has an interest for me.
When were the build start and end dates. And commission number sequences / production figures for any given year etc. (anything interesting really)
Any members in or around Coventry?
Thanks, Paul.

Re: New here
Welcome to the forum.
There are quite a few members local to you. I'm sure they'll introuduce themselves in time. All the FWD cars were built at Canley. The only cars not built there were some of the Toledos, early TR7s and anything else built after Canley shut down in 1980. The 1500fwd was built from 1970-1973 so they're all free road tax now. I don't have any other info to hand (I'm posting this from work in my lunch break). I look forward to seeing your thread and photos are a must as is asking lots of questions. Also, don't forget to join the Club.

Re: New here
Thank you for your response. My interest in the production dates (more specifically the actual start day) is (if the commission plate is correct) my car is an early one. I will probably get a heritage certificate at a later date to confirm this (after I get the reg docs from the DVLA....)
I work in a building that is visible in some old aerial photos of the Canley plant. It supplies pressed parts to the auto industry and it might be that some of the parts used in these cars originated where I work.

Hi and welcome,we have a very active coventry group that meet on the last wednesday of each month at the standard triumph club 8 pm ,you are most welcome to come and see us all.
Re: New here
I have a few more photo's I'll post soon. I have requested some info from the Heritage Motor Centre regarding the build date. Now I have to wait patiently for the DVLA to send me the V5....
The car seems largely complete apart from the keys(!), various rust holes in the body and the top of one of the door 'knobs' (the thing that pokes through the wooden caps, not sure what it's called)
First job will be to free off the engine (I'm assuming it won't turn because it hasn't seen the road since 1993!). and empty the swimming pools in the front footwells.

Re: New here
That looks very good indeed... I am sure it'll be 'looking' good in no time but other things will be a bit of a challenge that we're all here to help you with.

Re: New here
the photo shows the car's 'better' side
I can see a lot of work ahead. Even though I can't weld at the moment, I think I will be able to at the end of it. I'll get plenty of practice

Re: New here
I live on Broad Lane. Unfortunately I work an afternoon/evening shift so may not be able to make many meetings. I will join the club in March as that is the renewal month, or am I reading that wrong?
