screen wash

#1 Post by ABESDOLLY »

Hi all
My 1850hl had its mot today and failed on a couple of things.
The drivers seat runner not running properly which is annoying as it's been like this for the last six mot's And the screen wash pump not providing enough water.
Does anyone know what the requirement for this is?
Thanks james

At the end of the hose in the washer bottle there's a gauze filter that can get clogged. Give it a clean and that should solve your screen wash problem. All I can suggest for the seat is to take it out (4 1/2" bolts. You will need a socket to undo them), clean and lubricate the runners. You might find out what the problem is once it is out and cleaned up.

Hopes this helps any.

When I purchase one of my dolomites I found that the drivers seat would not slide and when I took it out I found that the problem was caused by three pound coins that had become trapped in the runner. You might find that you are better off than you expected.

Thanks for the quick replies , I will see if I can clean the pump. I think the runner is bent but I have a spare so will replace it when I get the car back at the weekend

Ive never heard of mot testers trying the seat adjustment and I was one for years!
If the cleaning of the filter in the washer bottle doesnt fix it make sure its got good voltage to the pump (bad earth)

I think the seat runner stuff is a recent addition. The kitcar boys got worried as most have fixed position seats that seemed to fall foul of the rules, but fixed actually is OK. But if they are adjustable, they must function correctly. Which seems fair enough.

yes I suppose worse case would be a sliding mechanism that wont lock so the seat is floating back and forth.

Check the washers with the bonnet open. It may be working but cleaning the inside of the bonnet if the jets are not lined up with the grill slots.
