I love making life difficult for myself, and here is the next example....
My daughter is now ready for her next car seat which will require a 3 point inertia belt to be fitted.
I have already fitted Isofix into the car, but in the centre. I did this, because of the extra safety it affords. I can remember reading from some Scandavian safety tests (I think) that the middle of the car is far safer than either side - for obvious reasons. So I want to continue there.
Now, will I be able to fit the reel in the parcel shelf for a central seat. Any reason why this wouldn't work?
Central intertia rear seat belt?
Re: Central intertia rear seat belt?
I am sure this can be done with a little bit of thought and effort...!!!
I suppose that a slot can be cut into the parcel shelf for the belt to pass through and the reel can be attached somewhere suitable in the boot... You may need to add some bracing or reinforcement to ensure the reel is safe, secure and up to the task in hand...
I am sure this can be achieved neatly, tidily and safely and I am sure we will all look forward to seeing the results...
Good luck, I hope this works out nicely for you

Re: Central intertia rear seat belt?
Not sure if it's different on the Toledo, but my Doly Sprint has a three point inertia reel seat belt in the centre, with the reel mounted on the parcel shelf.

Sorry the inside of boot is blured. Didn't want to burn the meatballs.

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

Re: Central intertia rear seat belt?
Thanks for the replies (and sorry for delay).
I think I may look to weld a brace bar across the width of the parcel shelf too, as mine had been a bit butchered by a previous owner, maybe to try and fit some speakers or something, which makes me wonder how strong it is.
Does anyone know which Securon seat belt is the right one for our cars?
Thanks

You will need one with a strap for the socket. I recently got some front ones from these people, well priced and excellent service. Have a look here:
