Battery for 1500

#1 Post by YoungManGoneWest »

It's time to get the SE back on the road. First up, a new battery is required. I would be grateful for recommendations re. makes, cranking amperage, and suppliers. Many thanks.

038 batteries in short supply these days.
Last few I got from Halfords with a tradecard, makes them OK pricewise and a decent 3 yr warranty.

Not seen any proper makes for a while, and not sure I would fit a numax or other generic brand.

It seems to be the 015 (heavy duty version of the 038) that's in short supply. It surprises me a bit because the same battery was used on quite a few BL cars. They're out there if you look hard enough. There's a battery supplier that offers TDC members a discount so they might be worth a try. If the battery terminals were the other way round, there would be more alternatives open to us.

I have a Varta B24 Black,45Ah,300 Amp in my 1500HL.A bit expensive at the time but I was stranded on the road, original battery just shorted and died, and this was the only battery that I could find ,that fitted,at my nearest battery stockist. It's been in there now since 2011,and never once went flat,or failed to start. Have you tried Advanced Battery Supplies? They offer a 5% discount to TDC members HERE. I bought a battery for the Astra via their ebay listing (it came top of my ebay search) and the price was the same as buying from the website with the discount.
