Mark, do you still need a set? There doesn't seem to be much nasty grot, just lots of little bits that could become big in a couple of years if left. So -- no brainer really.
Entertaining double act doing the work. Highly recommended.
You can still get the original spec stripes through Club spares

- I bought it from a chap called Lee in the Nottingham area of Ilkeston in 2000, Lee was in the club for a few years, and had a mint pag. blue 1850 If I remember right...He will Obviously know who put the engine into the re-shell and why...
Well Well well..............................just reading this post and saw my name
Was this the Pimento Sprint/ 1850?...............we talking about? full webasto roof?..........
I bought it from a guy in Belper Derbys and vaguely remember where he lived...........................then I didn;t know it had an early engine
Hi EnglishBull, do you have any other information?
It isn't Orange!!!!!!
The other one wasn't Purple either!!!
One of the new ones will probably be green, very green.
Another new one is green too but not as green as the previous one. Still pretty green. No, now it's Blue.
The other new one will be white with stripes. Actually it might not. No, it will be.
BUT, that one is definitely Yellow :=}
Hi Polly
Sorry I do not have anymore info and if wasn't for seeing the post I would not have known about the engine being early.
As mentioned by sandglow ,I recall the engine being.rather nippy but a bit smokey.
I can try and go see if I remember where I bought the car from but my memory fails me at times .
Incidentally,I need to investigate if a guy in same area still as his early L reg Sprint.
Sorry I cannot be of anymore help but see what becomes of this post, as it as stirred some things up .......
Maybe I should rethink the colour scheme after I saw this in Wrexham today....

Checking on progress, almost ready to come home. Lots of the seals are a bit dodgy after 40-odd years so some shopping to do before she gets put back together but we can't have the old lady leaking.

I assume the winscreen seal is sound. If not, why was the screen left in while the car was sprayed?
Thankyou Pippin, would never have thought of that.
And by the way, it's Windscreen.

I get numb in my guts when I see something like this where people can identify and recall such details about their or other members' cars. You in the UK are so lucky to have such a well organised system where you can check with a DVLA, where people care enough to actually respond. If I had to post a pic of the 2.5S I have owned since 1981, which I have driven all over the country, maybe the bloke from whom I bought it might recognise it. I suppose I must add that since the registration system was not well thought through for starters, the system had to be adapted to suite computerised systems, new provinces, overcrowding etc. Anyway, we have advantages....long open sweeping roads with places where one can give your car some wellie and not run into law enforcement. Anyway, I lived in your country for 10 years and have such pleasant memories. My only regret is that I didn't indulge myself into more track days, motor shows etc. Happy motoring, and congrats on your beautiful yellow Sprint. We didn't get them in SA.
Home again and the long job of putting all the bits back on begins!

Getting the boot rubber to lie down while I put Evo-Stick on it was a challenge.
Cat food was a bit wide...
