Thanks, total time last year was 12:30 hours and that included seven 10-15 minute checkpoints so I think about 10:15 is the time to beat.
Looking at the trace my HR seems OK, the doctor and PT aren't concerned with it, I have a very fast recovery rate!

Just a small update, I have 'procured' a set of sprint alloys with tyres so my original set can be sent off for refurbishment. They will be sent down the road to the local tyre and exhaust place who will strip the tyres off then I'll run them over to Spit & Polish in Tonbridge for blasting, powder coating and a diamond cut. These guys have done a few Sprint alloys for various club members and after contacting a few specialists are by far the best value as well.
Haven't decided on tyres yet, I will be going for the original size though (175/70 R13) so I may just have to go for something a bit more modern like a Goodyear efficient grip which I can get fitted for £47.98 per wheel (and get some clubcard points to boot!!) or I may go for a more modern Dunlop Street Response, blackcircles.com seem to have the best prices at the moment.

Thanks Howard, I 'googled' Dolomite Sprint Wheel Refurbishment and saw a thread on it, I believe PaulB used them too.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but they wont lacquer them, well not with powder coat anyway. As they become porous with age the little pockets of air are formed which is covered by the powder coat. As they are heated these expand affecting the finish making it look rubbish. I'm not worried about that, they'll be coated in beeswax when the car's in storage during the winter.
Wurth do a clearcoat satin wheel specific lacquer, I have had very good results with their silver paint and gloss wheel lacquer on my old Golf VR6 a few years ago. I'll do a Mad Mart refurb on the used set that I have and give it a go and see how it comes out.

I made a start on reassembling the carbs and inlet manifold then decided some of the bolts and springs weren't up to my standard. So this morning I have ordered new bolts, springs and set screws for the dashpots and float chambers.

Front carb, I'm pleased with the result. They have simply been dusted with Aluminum Oxide then gently bead blasted and I think they look far better than having them enamelled.




Everything organised just to check that I haven't lost any parts.



I do plan to order some club carb mounts but as I want the car to look original and better than when it just came off the production line I am sticking with some aftermarket rubber ones for now. As soon as I start using the car I'll change to solid club mounts which I'll have anodised black.
I ordered a new indicator stalk as the old one had been butchered a bit and the clamp was damaged, this is what arrived, sport the difference, old at the top new at the bottom!

That'll have to go back then!

I find it so annoying when someone has cut off a perfectly good switch from its loom because they are too lazy or
useless to take the column out and do it properly. Its not exactly difficult....

Thanks Mart! I'm waiting for parts to arrive, it seems like I'm always waiting for parts to arrive! Anyway, I thought I'd have a look at the air box, there's a small ding in the base of the cover which has cracked the metal unfortunately, so that will have to be welded up.

I used to do mine Dove Grey, a Ford colour I think. Don't know if that's the correct colour though.
