Carb' conundrum...!!! Please help me out!

#1 Post by grifterkid »

Hello to you all...

I have a peculiar carb' problem that although not serious is damn annoying!

Basically over the course of a few miles or a sustained high speed (HA!) run I find that my engine runs rather quite rough almost as though it is misfiring.

However, it appears that the black screw top thingy (sorry for the technical bombardment!) on the carbuerettor has worked itself loose and has popped off the top of the carb' body itself!!!

This is becoming ruddy annoying now so what should I do?!

Do I need to replace one or other of those parts as I can imagine that this could be something to do with the thread on either part...?!

Simple yet annoying... Isn't that always way?!

Wipe oil off thread and do it up tighter?..

I have tried cleaning both threads and it just doesn't seem to work... If I go past a certain level of tightness the screw top part just comes off!

As I say it's not catastrophic as I know what the problem is and its fixed in but a moment but I'd prefer it of I didn't have to keep doing it every other day!!!

Blimey...

Assuming not much petrol gets up there (shouldn't do!) you could try wrapping some PTFE tape round it - might bulk it out a bit if the threads are chewed up.
